2. Administrators Jabo Posted August 4, 2014 2. Administrators Posted August 4, 2014 Given the choice between destroying the aircraft and baling out safely or crashing due to a u/c failure and killing myself in the process, I know what I'd be doing! Great vid Chris. Thanks! Quote

PapaBear Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Brilliant !!!! it was great when we saw two Lancs at East Kirkby back in 2011 but three thats just awesome Quote
DD_Bongodriver Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Apparently the East Kirkby Lanc is being restored to flying condition and a second Lanc in Canada too........4 airworthy Lancs!!!! there are something like 17 more or less complete Lancs in the world. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 10, 2014 2. Administrators Posted September 10, 2014 Just Jane - the East Kirkby Lanc is getting pretty close to airworthy I think- of course in this context 'pretty close' probably means another 20 years or so. Quote
BluBear Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 I believe it's all about timing and money of course. The first step was the airworthy merlins, which they now have a stock of (5 I think). They've been doing large sections of overhaul during the winter maintenances, with the next major hurdle requiring a full strip down. The trouble with that is it will probably spend a year not bringing in the revenue taxiing and offering rides. Slowly slowly catch a monkey as they say. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 24, 2014 2. Administrators Posted September 24, 2014 Wonderful - we are so fortunate that there are people out there with the money, time and the ability to keep these incredible machines going. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I wonder who's turn it is to smash this up next? Quote
BluBear Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 They haven't had much luck with it have they? This is what, it's third post restoration flight in 10 years? Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 25, 2014 2. Administrators Posted September 25, 2014 Sounds a bit like a case of 'Blenheim syndrome' Please, please, please bring it to Legends! 1 Quote
