Well, yes and no. There are two engines at Duxford at present and three more currently under restoration in New Zealand. Now there's a Beaufort under restoration in NZ which will need two engines (handily the Beaufort can use the same engines as the Beaufighter - depending on the mark) so at present there looks to be enough engines to go around. I suspect the Dux examples will go to NZ to be worked on in due course.

Talking of interesting things in the pipeline...I dropped in at DX today to have an amble and I saw this tucked away in a corner of Hangar 2 (home of the Fighter Collection for those that don't know). Now this, unless I'm very much mistaken, is a super-rare Bristol Hercules (probably an XVI) and there's an aircraft in this hangar with a requirement for two of these. It's obviously incomplete and unrestored, but looks in reasonable shape. Could the Beaufighter project be moving forward at last?
  4. Thought it might be useful if we pinned a post with useful links and things at the top here. IL-2 Mission Planner http://il2missionplanner.com/ (Thanks to Thrudd)

  7. The 38 DC-3s and C-47s taking part will be assembling on the turf at Duxford on the 4th & 5th June (Tuesday and Wednesday) with practice jumps and other flying on both days with the Daks setting out for Normandy around midday on the 5th along with escorting Spits and Mustangs. The paras are due to jump over the beachhead between 4 & 5pm. Anyone fancy going along to Duxford to watch the action? tickets (for either day) are £25 (including museum entry) and I'm planning to go on the Wednesday.

GTX 970 available - Any Interest?

Can you give me the model Col, there's a lot of variation.

    We need to talk...

Yup. Given the number of groups that have gone to the wall over the last few years, perhaps it's the flexibility within the Dogz that you can fly your 'sim of choice' that's helped us continue in the way we have. And, while we're still able to offer specific nights to all these sims, it does mean that we are offering the widest possible choice to potential new members. Most of the guys who have joined recently only fly one or two of these (which is fine) and it's only the total nutters that would try and fly a different sim (almost) every night of the week anyway...For the record, I do have all 4...ho hum.

Fly to Stanstead mate, it's the nearest major airport to Dux and I'm sure someone can pick you up on the way past. Oh, and do the big one if you possibly can.

Phew, saw a post on FB that tickets for this had sold out at DX - a slightly panicked visit to the website and it turns out not to be the case. I’ve bought my tickets now just to be on the safe side.

I wonder if Mme Gondree is still around...Incredible that the Dogz met someone who had lived through the occupation and liberation of Caen 75 years ago.
