Some of these are definitely in the Bracket, "If I could, I wonder if I should?"

By no means ugly in any sense of the word, but 2 pictures show 2 sides of the Hunter

First, mean and functional

Hunter1.jpg

Second, sleek and very pretty

COME ON! How could anyone say the 109 is ugly?!? Sure, it ain't no Spitfire, but still! There's WAY more ugly aircraft.

Ahh the Hawker Hunter, my very first Airfix model when I was about 6 years old. Classic, sleek shape.

But... you've all missed out on THE best looking (and 100% real) aircraft ever!

And a skin of Ozark Airlines, is fighting me to show.

You might be interested to know Fruitbat that there is a group here in the UK building a replica Hornet for static display. It'll be the only example anywhere when it's complete!

You're welcome. If you're interested in aircraft restoration in general, the Historic Aviation forum over at Key Publishing's website occasionally turns up interesting info - Guess where the Hornet website info came from? Warning though - it gets incredibly anoraky from time to time, and I get the impression that they're not keen on people joining their little clique. Of the total posts I've made over there (three), two were ignored and the other got a smartass answer. I quit at that point, but I still lurk from time to time.

There is no doubt that Dehavilland knew how to build a purty aeroplane, the Mosquito is probably my fave as far as looks go. Hell, even when they set out to build the aerial equiralent of a half ton pickup truck they came up with this:

The Hornet had conter rotating props as well, like the p38 plus laminer flow wings, its like a super 1 man mosquito, must of been loverly to fly

Hornet is one of my all time favourites. Too bad they didn't save a few for us to enjoy.

Another one of my faourites is the Folland Gnat. I don't want to post any links as Photobucket has apparently been hit by some trojans.
