  2. So a few days ago I asked the question on ammo loadouts, whats the difference between blue and orange coloured ammo on the equipment screen. I since found the answer for those that are interetsed. Blue = Armour Peircing - Orange = High Explosive So in other words, Blue for PK and engine hits, and Orange for control surfaces and blowing bits off your target. Thank me later.

  3. STOP PRESS: IGNORE THE POINTS ABOUT ICONS - WE NOW HAVE A SOLUTION FOR NO GROUND UNITS BUT PLANE ICONS ON! Salute We are going to have another go at running the tank event as it seemed that people did actually like it! However... I have taken on board some of the comments that I received and suggestions as to what could have made it even better for everyone. To this end I am going to make the following changes. 1. We will run the event with icons on. This will enable the fighter jocks to have more fun with each other and we will also have icons on the map so that Tankers can see where they are going in the town. The caveat to this is that I am aware that some people still use full icons on their map which enables them to see where everyone is (RADAR) and also ranges and Id's. I have made the compromise to enable icons for playability, I would therefore ask that EVERYONE switches to using our mod for dot/triangle only and only your own icon on the map for at least this event. It can be enabled and disabled via JGSME so you will be able to turn it off afterwards should you wish. 2. The airfields will be moved back to introduce longer flight times, thus making it more successful if you take out an enemy plane as he will be gone for longer, giving you more time over the combat zone. 3. This will mean that tanks will have their icons on as well (I have yet to find a way of having air icons only) but hopefully this will not impact the playability / fun too much when we are in the built up town. People hiding under trees will be more visible to planes and probably other tankers, but I am stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to make the event as inclusive to everyone as possible, so please bear with me and give it a go. 4. The planes will be still limited to their original bomb loadouts of a maximum 250kg. Even through they will be able to spot tanks in tress, we all know from the P38 mission how hard it can be to take them out (and that is with 500lb!) so yes, it opens the tanks up a bit more but I felt that the fighter jocks needed more rewards for their efforts. So Please sign up in the thread below. You can change sides if you want. Lets hope we all have as much fun a before, remembering that this is still all new to us as an event. Friar

  5. Debrief for the 11th November 1944: 370th FG: 402nd - Escort of RAF B-25s to Krefeld. 485th - Patrol for Air Targets over Front Lines, Gymnich-Düsseldorf sector 410th BG - Bombing of convoy near Düsseldorf Another longer range mission mission today. The 485th ran their air patrol but yet again the Luftwaffe refrained our advances and so they took to harassing the Krauts on the ground; however the Flak arm put up a great deal of resistance and for once inhibited the usually robust 485th efforts. 2nd Lt. Mayer took damage and had to abort early, Lt. Apeehill caught a packet and was obliged to force land wounded on a forward airfield, and yet others collected some holes for their efforts. Most dishearteningly the much-liked and newly promoted Lt. Fryer - who was leading the group after Maj. Payne-less was called to HQ - was killed by a suspected direct 88mm hit. A significantly heavy price to pay for 7 ground targets. The 402nd too had a quiet escort mission, with no air opposition encountered. En route to the bomber departure waypoint the CO, Capt. Efftee ordered White Flight (Lt. Rea and 2nd Lt. Baker) to break formation and go hunting early whilst he and Red Flight stayed to ensure the bombers saftey. White flight dropped to the deck and scoured the front lines in an effort to cause the Wermacht further headaches. Finding a small concentration of flak guns and an artillery position North-east of Julich, they silenced all in short order. Tracking further south towards Düren, whilst calling in Red flight, only single further gun was found, which thanks to an excellent piece of bombing fell to 2nd Lt. Bowen. With fuel starting to become an issue, Capt. Efftee called RTB and the 402nd had an uneventful flight home and landed at Florennes accounting for 10 ground kills with no losses. There's no doubt that Jerry is suffering for airplanes and ground units; the sheer paucity of both in recent missions may point to them trying to conserve forces for a counterattack. Equally though it's been a hard slog for our troops and we're struggling to exploit weakness in their front-line due to our own supply issues. However, intel does indicate we may see them attempt to bolster their forces before we can take advantage of their situation... Another spell of grotty weather is inbound again gentlemen so looks like we'll have some time to lick our wounds. A break is expected for the 14th November. 9. Dear friends, As you know, the long-awaited Tank Crew - Clash at Prokhorovka was released officially recently. This is a very important milestone in the development of the IL-2 Great Battles series even if it has deviated from the aviation theme a bit. However, those of you who read our Dev Blog regularly know that the tank project development contributed to the aircraft features immensely. And while today's Dev Blog is dedicated to tanks, in the near future all the aircraft in the series will benefit from both things we'll tell you about (3-dimensional visualization of the terrain unevenness and graphics effects improvements). First, though, we'd like to show you the new Tank Crew promotion trailer created by =HH=Pauk. It showcases the main features we focused on with our partner Digital Forms during the development - operations of the realistically looking and accurately modeled combat vehicles on the real terrain that were recreated according to historical documents of the Prokhorovka battle and the events immediately before and after it. Taking into account the two bundled historical campaigns, it is a massive historical reconstruction of the tank actions in that area. Here it goes: It is well-known that we continue the improvement of our modules long after their official release dates, that's why we keep them in one 'package', so all the modules shared the newest benefits of the sim core. In the next update, you'll see the terrain roughness that previously was modeled physically and affected the tank movement is now visible and have a realistic size and layout. This also affects the aircraft in case of an emergency landing in a field. The second addition is the set of newly developed gunfire visual effects for the detailed tanks - their guns and machine guns. Before all the gunfire effects looked similar, but now they'll differ depending on the muzzle brake and the power of the gun. We plan to do the same for the aircraft guns of the planes in development and later on for the previously released ones. This video demonstrates the new effects better than many words can: Enjoy! 10. Yes I have and Sid being the genius he is converting the file, we now have the right solution, plane icons but no ground icons, so everyone wins! You will need to apply the attached file into JGSME and apply the mod. It is in our downloads and get it here

  13. thats sounds like a plan. I had a little fly about tonight, I couldnt even get the He111 off the ground, had a pair of 1800lb boms on board. i couldnt get the thing close to 200Kmh. was a grass runway though. Love the Ju88 though, that thing is manouevrable and fast for a bomber! landing was a bit of a catastrophe though.

  14. I got around to patching this yesterday, all 29 gigs of it! Had a bimble around the grand canyon then somewhere in England (don't actually know where i clicked, somewhere in the middleish!). Turned everything up to Ultra for shits and giggles, and in 4K, my eight core overclocked to 5.0Ghz and Rtx 2080Ti with 11gig of memory and superfast fibre, can just about get mid 30's fps, lol. But, but, those clouds are so bloody amazing!
