Administrators Posted July 16, 2011 As some of you might be aware, after Duxford, myself and Rox set of for Mordor, I mean Wales, Heres some pics of our adventures away from the Shire (taken from my phone, so excuse the quality!). views from around the campsite, Rox, lake by the campsite, From climbing, we climbed Tryfan, from there Glyder Fach, and from there Glyder Fawr. On our way up Tryfan, paths are for pussies. the view ahead, top of Tryfan, the next 2 targets, the 2 Glyders, lokking towards Devils Kitchen, looking back at Tryfan on our way up Glyder Fach Quote
2. Administrators fruitbat Posted July 16, 2011 Author 2. Administrators Posted July 16, 2011 the climb ahead, weirdness at the top, the actual top, the view to Snowdon, On our way to Glyder Fawr, on our way down, the route down, looking back, All in all, great fun, and fantastic weather for wales as well Quote
Sweper Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Very nice Kev! Astonishing views. If you had not told the location, I would have thoght it was somewhere else (Mordor:). Looks like a vulcano crater, in England!? Thanks for sharing! Quote
2. Administrators fruitbat Posted July 16, 2011 Author 2. Administrators Posted July 16, 2011 not England, but the Snowdonia national park in Wales, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowdonia there not particularly big, all around 1000m, but it sure is a beautiful place Quote
1. DDz Quorum Pooka Posted July 16, 2011 1. DDz Quorum Posted July 16, 2011 Thanks for posting. Very beautiful country, a lot more rugged that I had thought. From a distance it appears an easy walk up, but the closer photos show the opposite. Thanks again, glad your both back. Quote
rox Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Here's a sheep, the markings are RAF I think... Awesome pics Kev, I'll post mine tomorrow, because it's just too much work posting them at 5:30 am with too little blood in my alcohol right now... Quote
rox Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I think this confirms my theory that the Welsh language is based on someone randomly punching the keyboard. Tryfan, someone is up there on the left rock Quote
rox Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 looking up the second mountain to climb after Tryfan mordor indeed 3 peaks in 6 hours And after the limo that fruitbat rented broke down... ...we got a worthy replacement Awesome trip, wish I could have stayed in wales a bit longer. Quote
2. Administrators fruitbat Posted July 17, 2011 Author 2. Administrators Posted July 17, 2011 nice pics Rox. that second car broke me much more than the mountains, lol! Quote
BluBear Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Nice pictures guys! Looks like you had a great time. I am rather jealous though, i've climbed a few nice peaks in Ireland but not had the opportunity yet to do any around Snowdon. I've stopped there plenty of times on the way to Holyhead for a few hours, but really should make the effort to spend a weekend up there and do something like you did. It really is stunning scenery. JensenPark Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 spectacular, simply spectacular. Well done guys. Very, very nice. Love the "toughened by TOAD" pic. Of course, this will be forever known as your Brokeback Mountain experience...but still, pretty amazing! Quote
T_O_A_D Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I'm sure this only give you a false sense of security. Just like having me as your wing-man. Quote
Jediteo Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 But I thought one does not simply walk into Mordor? Quote
FlatSpinMan Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Wow. I had never imagined that the UK could look like that. Really interesting scenery. Shame there were a couple of tools popping up in so many pictures. Could somebody photoshop 'em out. Quote
