jp, fps average of 60.....if you have a new hockey 2000 computer the frames may be limited by the screen refresh rate of 60hz. mine is, i cant remember the setting but when i took it off, it went to about 140..!! so dont dispare....it may be 60 but i bet each one will be quality

old was was running at 35.

tweaking away.

had to fight it to recognize my speakers.

I'm led to understand Windows 7 is idiot proof...but in my case idiot proof means an idiot like me can't work it.

looked at refresh rates and both Windows 7 and Nividia set up only give 60 as a refresh option.

Well it depends really on what your lowest fps is, and whether or not vert synch off improves it.

If it doesn't then capping max @ 60 fps is worth it to not have the tearing ;)

Most LCD monitors won't refresh at anything faster than 60Hz in any case. Which may be why you get 'tearing' if you attempt to force the frame rate higher. Personally, I'd rather not have the tearing issue, so have locked my frame rate @ 60fps, and everything's rosy. Still can't fly worth a damn but it looks nice while I'm sat in my crater.

I don't know much about this whole transfer-thingie but why don't you just move the HDD over to the new computer and install a new, cheaper one in the old? Sorry if that came out noobish but I only use one comp at a time....

Win 7 has a program you install on your old machine that gathers settings and such.

Damned if I can remember what it's called. I put both HD's in the same machine and copied from one HD to the other. Damn near effortless.

Windows easy transfer maybe.

Have all the programs installed first. IL2, TS, browser etc.

I hadn't install Firefox on the new machine when I ran it so it didn't get any of my settings for that so I just ran the thing again.

just trying to transfer now...can't get windows easy transfer to recognize my 'old computer'

driving me bonkers.

Is the firewall stopping it?

I turned off the firewall in the old 'puter.

have the windows easy transfer software installed in the old one.

every step works except the transfer part.

I'll try it with the firewall turned off in the new computer.

will let you guys know.

thanks for the help.

(ended up transferring the porn to my external, then over to the new one so that is safe...do not worry!)

My daughter has a laptop and I've been trying for weeks the same thing- no joy.

I suspect it's why I can't host IL2 anymore as well.

Maybe you can put the 2 machines side by side and plug the old SATA cable into the new mobo? The old machine will power it but it will be a second HD in the new machine?

no the end of the world.

I copied/saved most to my external hard drive...then copied/saved it over to the new machine.

Funny, the copy/save version of 4.09final moved ok...but not Ultra2.

no biggie in the end, as the 2.0exe file (the 3.2g 'patch') moved over ok and I just reinstalled that onto the 4.09final that was moved over and voila.
