Blairgowrie Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Pooka and I will be arriving on the morning of Monday, July5 in the am. We have taken rooms for 4 nights at http://www.captainblighhouse.co.uk/ affectionately renamed, by yours truly, as Moby Dick's. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 That sounds great Arthur. Just about what I had in mind. I meant to say window shopping on Bond Street though. Many thanks for all your suggestions. I am sure we will be able to fill our days. Quote
rumba Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Tower of London gets my vote.. Facinating history and the Beefeater Guides are most entertaining.. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Apart from Friar, I guess nobody wants to meet up while we are in London, Pook. Maybe everyone else is going to Duxford. Quote
Jediteo Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I have actually never been to London, I could perhaps be convinced to visit at the same time BG. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I have actually never been to London, Really? Quote
1. DDz Quorum Pooka Posted November 11, 2009 1. DDz Quorum Posted November 11, 2009 No sweat BG, we'll get our fill of Ale in Duxford mate. Jedi, I've never been to New York City and have lived in the USA for 60 + years, no plans to either. While in London, I've got to make it look like I'm spending time with the wife. Quote
JensenPark Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Jedi... If you want, I'll meet you in London the day before Duxford and we can booze around town, see the sights etc. Find a cheap flophouse and then toodle off to Duxford next day with the rest of the reprobates. Quote
Jediteo Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Arthur, I have been in yorkshire for a field trip, and down through to Stansted. Spend a couple of hours in Birmingham too. I just never find the time to go places. I hate travelling alone, and I have trust issues. I hate travelling without having everything set up and certain. I probably sound like an fool telling you this. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted November 12, 2009 2. Administrators Posted November 12, 2009 Apart from Friar, I guess nobody wants to meet up while we are in London, Pook. Maybe everyone else is going to Duxford. Weeeell, I might go to Duxford Jim, but I'm sure I can squeeze in a day in London (although it's a bit scary). Are you planning to travel to Dux on Friday? Hiring a car or do you need a lift? Jabo Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted November 12, 2009 2. Administrators Posted November 12, 2009 Jedi... Actually Jedi, this might be a good plan. If you can get to Coventry, I'll meet you there and we can travel down South together. Means that you don't need to travel on your own too far, although the downside is you get to travel with me...lol Jabo P.S. We can squeeze in a quick look at the Cathedral if you like, it's only 5 mins from the station. Quote
JensenPark Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Would be great to meet up with some of ya' in London... It's a good 10 hour flight for me...would be a waste to go that far and miss London again (apart from Heathrow) Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted November 12, 2009 2. Administrators Posted November 12, 2009 With you, Jim and Pook all there for a few days, it'd be a shame to miss out on the Smoke. Heathrow's nice, but there's more to London than that. Jabo Quote

Jabo A lift would be great Jabo and I think the Pooka's will need one too. Helen can walk. Quote

1. DDz Quorum Painless Posted November 12, 2009 1. DDz Quorum Posted November 12, 2009 ~S~ BG and Pook, I will arrange with you nearer the time to meet up in London on the Thursday morning, if that's OK. JP, I like the idea of finding somewhere cheap to stay in London so we can have a drinkepoos on Thursday with the "senior citizens" but I will have to sort out parking the car somewhere for the day and night . Then I can provide transport up to Duxford on Friday morning for 3 people. Maybe we can come up with a slick plan. ~S~ Painless Quote
Blairgowrie Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 Anyone remember the Black Bull Indian Restaurant? Quote
Jediteo Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I'm still uncertain about my schedule in July, but I would very much appreciate the ride down Jabo. That'll be fun explaining to my parents. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted November 12, 2009 2. Administrators Posted November 12, 2009 Maybe we can come up with a slick plan. Mick, given that we can both take three additional people in our respective vehicles, we could manage to get Jim, Helen, Pooka, Joanne (apologies if I've mispelled that Pook!), JP, Jedi and me and thee there in two cars - easy or wot! Dunno about the Black Bull Jim seeing as I didn't get there last time, but I'll do some digging. Jabo Quote
1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted November 13, 2009 1. DDz Quorum Posted November 13, 2009 Guys, before any plans are set in stone, let me throw my hat in to the ring.... I live approx 40mins drive from where BG and Pook will be staying. I have booked the Friday off work already. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 We will be traveling light. We used to overpack but not anymore. Quote
JensenPark Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 so you'll be full carrying BG, Pook and their concubines then, correct? Quote
1. DDz Quorum Pooka Posted November 13, 2009 1. DDz Quorum Posted November 13, 2009 Myself and the wife travel very light, a trick I learned in the Marine Corps, put all your clothes on, remove a layer as they become soiled. Quote
