memtest86 from http://www.memtest86.com, you can get an iso to create a bootable cd.

Once your system has passed that hurdle get:

Prime95 and run the blended torture test for as many hours as you can keep your hands off your new toy ;)

The install IL2FB and run Blackdeath for a couple of loops, it won't be any more than that as the draw to 'fly' will be too great!

Thanks Roger. I am hoping there will be no issues (I've waited long enough for this) and want to spot any problems early so I can yell and scream and get it fixed. Finger crossed...

Well, the new rig arrived yesterday, and so far, so good. I tried the memtest and could not access the webpage, and will try the 95 today, but the real important test seems to have worked: Installed Il2/PF, and ran the Black Death track at top graphics quality at 1024x768 and it was SMOOTH, baby! I also ran it over and over again, overnight, and when I got up this morning, it had not burst into flames nor seemed to have slowed down. The water effect are crazy; looks like glass.

I obviously need to put it through some more paces, and get it set up for hosting, but looking good.

Welcome to the 7800 club Glenn. Amazing water effects aren't they!

Sounds like you have done about all the testing needed, short of taking hold of the Joystick for a few hours :)

I take it 1024 x 768 is either a personal preference or the limit of your monitor/LCD panel, as the card (7800GTX IIRC) coupled with the rest of your hardware will easily drive 1600 x 1200 :):)

Mind you, your movies are going to up a nothc or two too!

Funny you should mention that. The monitor I was testing it out on is not the one I will be using, so I am not sure what the upper limit is. I will switch them out today. I assume I can get something at least above 1024x768, but if not, I now have something else to work toward getting. :o

BTW, its only a 7800GT, although I understand the peformance difference is not overwhelming.

And yes, my movies should increase in quality, or I am doing something wrong. I can't wait to install the editing software and see how it performs. Even if it only reduces the compression render time, it will help immensely...

Nice rig Greenstreaks.

Nice guns too.

Looking at the gun collection I would not want to be your computer after a failure. :terrorist::computer:

Thank-ya.

BTW, that little silver laptop on the right side of the desk is what I've been playing on until now. Man what a difference with a large screen & jumping from 20ish fps to over 100fps. :)

Correct, BOB has not been released, and probably won't for another year I'm guessing.

When it does come out, we will probably still play IL2 and BOB for quite a while.

I made a new Freetrack rig.

Had to try these 5.1 headsets so I got a model I could mount the LED's right on easily.

A bit of tweaking and they're perfect.

I used a couple of those plastic lines they put on paintball guns that always leak. I found something they are good for. Just the right combination of stiffness and flexibility.

You can't see the top one in the pic but it's very short, maybe 2-3 inches.

Bottom 2 are 8" and I can barely see them in my peripheral vision.

The headphones were crushing my ears after an hour so I had to put some weatherstripping foam on(had to sew it on in a few places to keep it there) to space em out a bit.
