  1. Easy Tiger! Good ol' British self-deprecating humour. It was a gift.
  2. My thanks Gentlemen. However, the (not inconsiderable) weight of Dogz opinion is as nothing when faced with Mrs OT's unassailable logic. Mrs OT knows that I am a cheapskate skinflint so keeps an eye on what I may or may not be buying. In this instance she has decided that a second hand joystick no longer in production doesn't quite fit the bill. So she has ordered (and paid for!) a new X52 Pro. What can I say...........
  3. Garn! Current setup is X52 pro and saitek rudder pedals. Throttle is ok, but now the stick has gone tits up. So, I know the question has been asked before, but I would be grateful for your comments please (well, perhaps not from Mr Painless..........). I rather like the X52 pro setup, so should I buy another one (Dabs.com @ £109.99), keep the throttle and pair it with another stick or scrap the lot and start again with something else. Cost is a definite factor - so no Warthog! Appreciations. OT
  4. Sorted! I did a line by line comparison with Jabos conf and noticed mine was on 16 bit colour! Now 32 and all ok in perfect. 180 fps, 67 min in Black Death. That'll do for now! Thanks for your help guys
  5. Thanks Jabo, but not possible at the moment - am being "xmas-ed" apart from odd moments.
  6. What happened to the easy life..... OpenGL set as provider. Renamed conf to confold and pasted Jabo's in. Game wouldn't start. Renamed Jabo's Conf to conf1, renamed confold to conf - game starts perfectly - with no perfect setting! Think I'll go play Silent Hunter....... @Crash - game installed on E drive/HSFX7, well away from c:/program files!
  7. Evening Chaps, All going well so far. New box up and running, IL2 patched to 7.0.1. Then i hit a problem I have no perfect setting. IL2 installed on E:/Games drive, 32 bit colour on, stencil buffer on. When I check conf.ini I see that openGL hardware shaders = 0. I can edit it to 1, but after loading game it's set itself back to 0. I've even copied to flash drive, edited and copied back - still won't stick! System: MSI Z87 G45 mobo i5 4670k cpu 8GB 1600 ram win 7 home 64 bit and an Nvidia GTX 460, courtesy of Sid (thanks mate, arrived this morning. That's a Duxford beer or two for you......) Any ideas anyone please? Technically challenged OAP........
  8. Ummm...... Hi chaps - it's only been a couple of years...... Anyway, looking to fly again quite soon but need to upgrade the box first. Current thoughts are: MSI Z87 g45 mono I5 4670k 3.4 GHz 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz Win 7 pro Graphics card still up for grabs - any suggestions welcomed. And do I still need a sound card nowadays? Am running an Audigy 2 at the moment. Oldtimer - a blast from the past.
  9. Hi guys, Flying has become a distinct possibility again...... But first, maybe a better graphics card so I can see where I'm going. Current rig is an e6750/ati 4750/win xp sp3 and 4Gb DDR2 1333 ram (yes...... I know....). Anyway, what would your suggestions be for a better second hand gfx card for a few more fps but no mega-hole in the bank balance. Next planned upgrade would be to a quad core chip. All suggestions gratefully received. OT
  10. Thank you all for your suggestions. She eventually went for D-Day Doll. As nobody won, I had to buy the beer. Seems like a put-up job to me.......
  11. I really preferred Mislaid, but apparently not an option......
  12. She eventually went for D-Day Doll. See you all sometime this evening......
  13. Yeah - go on Gec, what does it look like? Painless running at numero uno at the moment......
  14. Reservation (Ex Zooly) all confirmed, so we'll be there Fri - Sun. Now Mrs OT is being difficult and is refusing to suggest a suitable tag. Here's your chance for glory lads....... suggest a suitable moniker for her! Lucky winner gets to buy her a lightly iced sauvignon blanc on Friday. Pic to aid inspiration..............
  15. Thank you Gentlemen. Having checked all the various bits and pieces, I can report that becoming an OAP appears to have caused no great change - ie - the glass-raising hand is still fully functional. Can't say the same for the rest though! I still lurk around the forums, but won't be back in the cockpit until I can get the leg fixed.
  16. Oh dear! I'm an OAP - it's Official! And I've still only got one leg that works

  17. Is hacked off. Spent all day in hospital yesterday having an operation on clogged up leg arteries. It failed. Another try scheduled in about 6 weeks time.

    1. Crash

      Crash

Sorry to hear that Ade. Better luck next time ;)

    2. Snacko

      Snacko

Too Bad OT! Is that normal for that type of operation? Hit or miss? Good Luck!

  18. Yes, it is a good read but doesn't seem to work very well. No! Wait! - maybe it's the pilot...........
  19. Aye! I'll drink to that! (Ummm..... are we back on normalspeak now)
  20. Arrr!!!! Belay that. Be this International Pirate Speak me hearty...??
  21. @Rico - I followed your instructions to the letter, including latest video drivers. @Crash - tweaked the conf file as stated. The figures for the BD track on perfect are: Av - 85 max - 273 min - 28. Seems very flyable to me. Shame about the pilot........ A result I think. Thankyou Gentlemen! :icon_salut:
  22. ~S~ JoeBob, Welcome to the online madness that passes for normal around here.
  23. Thanks BA, but I only tried that at Rico's suggestion before he realised I was still running 32 bit - the problem was there before.
