~S~ Pooka. It's a small world and full of surprises too. Sometimes the small unexpected ones can mean so very, very much.

    1/48 Tigercats

Made a start on the F7F Firebomber Looking forward to this one...... Assembly of the fuselage has been very straight forward. Cockpit detail took a day and the halves were joined. Once dry the 'Borax' fire-retardant powder tank was stuck on The resin cast tank only needed a little sanding to get it to fit the contours, very pleased with that. It came a yellowy colour - it has had a base coat of grey to highlight any faults. I will run some light or medium superglue along the join to act as a filler The Tigercat has a very narrow fuselage, this tank is a total contrast Loving the lines Model is quite large, a nice size to work on There is a bit of a choice to make with the painting. Because the tank is under and close to the undersurface of the wings it will be difficult to paint it with the wings on. I am contemplating painting the tank and then masking it before I put the wings on. The fit of the wings is very good and the joints are very snug so this is a good option. The paint scheme I've chosen has quite a few colours so the painting will not be straight-forward. Challenge!
  7. Couldn't see if the bomb doors caused an issue last night as they weren't used. Flew bombers twice though.....Pe2 where bombs were hung externally and B24 with no bombing in the mission lol
  8. ...is Eben Emael http://www.powerglidertaifun.de/ebenemael/ee.htm Mission is under development and is progressing well. Has the potential for glider only or towing with a Ju52! That could be fun, a Dog in the '52 and another in the glider..... Here's a few shots of the flight in, approach and landing so far. Ntrak is also attached. Note the terrain may be challenging Cheerzen! A 'Vicious' Production Eben Emael.ntrk

Yus. 'Specially evident on the wing uppersurfaces, the black undersurfaces and the droptanks. Used your tip - a cotton bud and dry layers rubbed on. Works a treat.

    Sid's Mig

To be honest the photos don't do it justice. Whilst the original painted lines for the panels that were fine on the orange scheme are covered in the paint the new panel line weathering done after the camo has been put on is fine - just doesn't show up in the photos. Painting the panel lines before putting on the camo coats is a good idea though and, with thin coats sprayed on it can take quite a few coats to cover them completely. Gloss varnish and then matt varnish have very little effect on the line's visiiblity as they are clear - the only thing I found that was on the blue Tigercat the weathering I did on the finished paintwork before I applied the final semi gloss varnish topcoat all disappeared. Trial and error really, I am currently weathering as a final act over all the varnish coats. Seeing how it works.

Weathered and almost done - always the final bits of painting like engine intakes etc. What I need to do is spend a day doing all the finishing touches so that I can say "It's done!"

The MiG has had a makeover....it is a winter scheme over the basic green. Inspiration was this: that was found here http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww2/f/457/1 Nearly there with the painting, final detail like exhausts and detail needed: Sprayed with Tamiya acrylics from a can with masking tape, cardboard templates edged with BluTack for the camo edges. Spinner had 3 coats of white, engine cowling had 2 and fuselage had 1 to give the weathered and worn look.
  15. Ha Ha not what I intended but....fnaaar, fnaaar...
  16. Loved it Thanks for posting Cap'n Jack - Beaver's always been one of my favourites, a workhorse and epitomises bush piloting for me.

  19. Damn.... The crowd reaction was just the same at Reno. No screaming and shouting, just 'Oh no...no'. Disbelief and trying to comprehend what happened.
