    Fraps

Another ATI user here Not tried my copy of Fraps yet with CoD. 5970 is a rare beast Jim, none on eBay here in the UK. 58xx still available as new buy. FYI, the 5xxx series do support DX11, and having seen what that can do (on my lads 6xxx equipped PC) I want... and shame CoD isn't DX11
  2. Going to try the Affinity setting, this looks to be what is causing my CH Controls to not respond. I think CPU may be maxing out on one core, and this core is where the CH Control is running. Will check the EpilepsyFilter setting, used the in-game control to toggle that and have assumed it worked..
  3. Hmm. Needs a lot of salt this... My 4870... and I can run at high settings! No way... Mind you the bugs in this sim, I find my CH Controls are near useless as COD doesn't register the axis changes for quite some time. So unimportant things like throttle, pitch, mixture changes etc register minutes later (and some times not at all)..
  4. This server is running on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS With the Ubuntu Live DVD you can, as suggested, boot off it and try it out. You can also install it alongside windows, it creates a file system within a file on your hard drive, no need to partition, and give you dual boot. Learning curve can be a little steep, for example you will have an ordinary user account and have to 'sudo' to do any admin stuff - like system updates. The root account in Ubuntu does not have a password, but that can be easily changed so you can log on as root Running Windows Apps, not as hard as it used to be as WINE has evolved, I have run IL2 on Linux quite well. Dedicated servers can also lend themselves to running well under Linux - again this server we are on here runs a Windows based dedicated server (Warband) very well and attracts sufficient donations to pay for itself (a hungry server that consumes upto 165GBytes daily!!!). If you want to experiment without installing you can also grab a copy of Virtualbox and setup a VM, this is also open source: http://www.virtualbox.org/ I also have a server running Centos, which is essentially RedHat but the free version without support and somewhat delayed updates.
  5. Done! Locking this thread to keep things tidy
  6. Looks good doesn't it! Image 5 - wtf? It's upside down but not...??
  7. Classic IL2 support there They are living up to the pedigree we all know and love, being forced to release before ready is a big gamble. 1C:Maddox can afford to take that gamble to a degree, because of the history of long term support and open dialogue. Biggest risk is with newcomers to the franchise, who will not yet be aware of Maddox & company's highly principled approach to what they do and sell. The Steam Forums have wailer's all over
  8. Minecrack aka Methcraft, a strangely addictive game. You can even find a server at dangerdogz.com:25575 (it needs updating to 1.4 though) Got around 70 active players on it too...
  9. You on XP Delta? Ran mine on medium settings, default, and it seems smooth enough. Not tried an FPS measure yet, so my old 4870 has a little life left in it yet perhaps. Going to have a play with it more at the weekend when I have more time and energy to do it justice, working for a living sucks
  10. Steam is downloading my copy, thought it was released tonight but hey ho... missed out on the Silent Hunter offer (like I would have time or inclination). Interesting to see what sort of a slideshow I get with my paltry 4870 card..
  11. Saw the NL in the UK a few years back, so crossed of my bucket list Was awesome, and very unusual for it to be so far South - caused a degree of panic about 20 odd years ago with people 'phoning the police! We may get another chance this coming year, with solar activity forecast to be at a peak. Bit of entertainment for us when it knocks out the power grids
  12. Green = Friend Blue = you Orange/Red = others Plus there are icons for special interest places. Map was new 12+ months ago, old entries including BGs was lost
  13. Shouldn't that be dd_jabo m8?
  14. Ooops. Old link to old map, corrected now. You can also just click the link in the menu @ the top
  15. Crap. Just saw the Steam minimum specs.. *SUPPORTED VIDEO CARDS AT TIME OF RELEASE: ATI®: 5830/5850/5770/5870/6870/6950/6970 NVidia®: 250/260/275/285/460/465/470/480 So my 4870 is not on that list... and a new card is so not on my horizon anytime soon either
  16. I just posted that it may be possible to purchase here on behalf of Canada/US guys, depending on how DRM is done it may also be possible to create/copy the DVD electronically and use the activation code. Of course we would need a disk in hand first
  17. Filter Optional? Sounds like a result Well as we have done in the past, it is entirely possible for us Euro types to buy on behalf of our NA Continental brethren so they don't have to feel left out. Sure there will be additional postal cost, but possibly the DRM is such that electronic copies may be possible with just the key being sent?
  18. Well having read the various posts on other forums this is my conclusion: Maddox and company produced a piece of software that failed a quality test. The test is quite an important one, the software was proven to be seizure inducing and they, Maddox and co, acknowledged this. They applied a work around that samples frames and reduces the seizure inducing effect, but this requires some intense calculations and therefore lowers frame-rate. They have not had time to create an SLI version of this workaround that will improve frame-rate. Seizure inducing.. That is a big thing, there are people who are susceptible who have never had a seizure, there is no way any responsible company would release something like this on the market. It is not only those that are already epileptics that are at risk. What I would like to know is how IL2 compares on the same test, that alone would empower us to make our own choice on whether or not any workaround is safe and feasible. This does not bode well for Maddox, this has been a significant investment for them.
  19. Our main TS Server got me this way too, PayPal subscription. Hadn't intended on renewing it, because service has been patchy, but it auto renewed. Cancelled the sub now though
  20. Yes, it is from the Histericaloric camp with emphasis on data accuracy. I have the released version on the server, downloaded via torrent, and will updat our vault with it. This is in the vault for the benefit of those that want it, it is not mandatory - only obsessives or those with a genuine need should download it!
  21. An Irish priest was transferred to Texas .. Father O'Malley rose from his bed one morning. It was a fine spring day in his new Texas mission parish. He walked to the window of his bedroom to get a deep breath of the beautiful day outside. He then noticed there was a jackass lying dead in the middle of his front lawn. He promptly called the local police station...... The conversation went like this: ''Good morning This is Sergeant Jones. How might I help you?'' ''And the best of the day te yerself.. This is Father O'Malley at St. Ann's Catholic Church. There's a jackass lying dead in me front lawn " Sergeant Jones, considering himself to be quite a wit, replied with a smirk, ''Well now Father, it was always my impression that you people took care of the last rites!'' There was dead silence on the line for a moment........................................... Father O'Malley then replied: 'Aye, 'tis certainly true; but we are also obliged to notify the next of kin.''

    Forum Woes

Really weird.. I have never had a problem with this software of that nature, my posts always appear instantly when I post them! Can you give some more detail, as this may indicate a bug? What browser are you using? Typically how much time lapses between your starting your post and hitting the post button? I will have a look at your settings too.

    A Few Problems...

With Windows 7 always right click the installer and select 'Run as Administrator' Ditto when you run the app, you can modify the shortcut and select it to use 'Elevated Privileges'. I found this to be the case with my CH software too, as it emulates a keyboard Win 7 neutered it. WIth TiR I was unable to get it to centre the view unitl I modified the shortcut
