I think I'm going to book Friday and Saturday, maybe book Sunday at a later date if the tickets are still available. Despite the cost I think this is likely to sell out sharpish

*EDIT* Aaaaaand I've booked.

For those not on Facebook, they also announced this:

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected each and every one of us. Thanks to our dedicated NHS and the rapid deployment of vaccines, our lives have been made that much safer. To show our recognition and thanks, The Fighter Collection will donate 10% of the net proceeds generated from ticket sales to selected charities who have made a difference. These will be announced in the weeks to come. Thank you all for your generous support and welcome to Flying Legends 2021.

It's a great line up already!

And apparently they may have devised a curved flightline, similar to Old Warden, great for top side passes.

Rumourmill suggests the Grace Tempest II could be the star of the show, but we'll see. It's not even emerged from the hangar at Sywell yet. That would be something.

Either way, one is excited.

Regarding prospect of selling out, a contact based at Sywell posted this on the UKAR forums:

I wouldn't wait if I were you. There is a great deal of 'pent up demand' I understand the Saturday in particular is selling quickly.

Sywell is also a smaller venue than Duxford.

Bad news fellow Dogz:

Dear Friends of Flying Legends,

In the light of yesterday's message from our Prime Minister, and the uncertainty surrounding the UK opening fully for business, it is with deep regret and a heavy heart that we must cancel this year's event. We understand the government's careful position but cannot safely stay the course in the light of the potential loss and lack of clarity so close to show time.

We sincerely apologise for the disappointing news but the circumstances are truly out of our control. We will be reimbursing all of you, our faithful friends of Flying Legends who pre-paid for tickets in the coming days.

On a personal note and in the name of the whole team at The Fighter Collection who have worked so hard this past year to prepare the aircraft and the show itself, please know that this decision has not come lightly. We are very sad but pray that next year will be COVID free for all and that Flying Legends 2022 will be a classic.

Thank you for your understanding and for your dedication and support.

Yours sincerely

Nick Grey
Director

If it’s not against ze regulations under pain of prosecution, what about staying at the hotel anyway for a Dogz weekend ? If it becomes apparent nearer the time that we are not allowed then we could cancel the rooms if necessary ?

Even though I've cancelled the hotel room, I'd be up for a Dogz weekend

Well I would be up for keeping my room booking for Friday and Saturday night if a few of us do the same just to feel like a “free” human being with rights again, anyone else ?

Even a compromise would be better than nothing,  for instance cancelling the Friday night room, driving up Saturday morning, spending the afternoon and evening socialising with a few beers, staying in the room Saturday night then driving home Sunday morning ?

Good idea, I'm up for that!

👍

A good idea Friar, thank you. Could be dependent on numbers perhaps? Maybe keep that one in 'the bank' for a later date?

  • Thanks 1
