1. DDz Quorum DD_Fenrir Posted March 7, 2016 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 7, 2016 Gents, just to avail you of some of the changes, and some nice additions also, to the feature set at SoW: 1. Replacement Aircraft: We no longer will replace our own aircraft. An Air Transport Auxilliary Service is to be set up under the auspices of a Command Team (see here: http://www.stormofwar.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3423). The Command Team are to decide where and how the limited stocks of re-supply airframes will be distributed in an effort to prevent the hoarding by larger and more attendent groups that was creeping in the last iteration of SoW. We will be able to request new airframes from CT but as yet I cannot confirm the procedure. rest assured it is being investigated and will avail you of the proper method once I know what it is! The ATA will consist of volunteer pilots from all Red Team Squadrons who along with being members of their original squadron will also be members of the SoW ATA squadron - I know we have a few here with a penchant for playing ferry pilot so if you're agreeable I'm sure your efforts will be much appreciated; just remember you'll be delivering to any squadron at any airfield so you'll need to be 'genned up' and be confident (ahem) of getting round the map and putting the airframes down at the right field! 2. Aircraft Serial numbers: http://www.stormofwar.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3318 3. Area Targets: http://www.stormofwar.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3348 4. Bombing & Recon: http://www.stormofwar.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3406 That's the big news for now, I will update as appropriate. Perfesser
No losses either. Nice work gents. No war stories? I'll start... I jumped in for a quick test flight alone (I know....) Got reports of a raid far south, I landed and took off again with full fuel. New plane but I'm sure there was nothing wrong with Hurri P2824. Missed them on the way in and turned to follow. Too late I found 9 bombers turning back from Farnborough at 16K. Above and behind were 12 escorts, 8 of whom took an unhealthy interest in my lone Hurri. I had altitude and gave them a good run, got hits on one but eventually they were equal altitude and energy and I was trying to figure out how to get away. I thought they were E-1's at first (yellow nose and wingtips) but I definitely saw cannon rounds exploding past me when one fired. They must have run low on fuel, at one point I looked back and nobody was there anymore. I turned to follow their reported egress heading in an empty sky, radar had them all at angels 1, and I caught up with them again near the coast skimming the trees. Pulled in behind a 109 and got him right at convergence with a short burst, his engine caught fire immediately, he rolled over and went straight in. I came back down from a zoom climb behind another and set his left wingroot on fire. I was about to get behind a third when I saw contacts off to the side. I thought it was the bombers or maybe a recon flight that had been reported (single at 2K)so I turned after them. Turns out they were balloons. By the time I turned back the sky was empty. I gave chase to that single radar contact just south of the coast near Rye, guessing it was a recon flight, but never found him. Low on fuel I turned for home but had to land at Eastchurch. Took off again with the same plane, V6603, and landed safe at home plate. Claiming 2 x 109 and another damaged.
Sweper
Yea, good fun it was. Learned a couple of tricks to fly more un-economical to keep up with you lot but who cares about fuel usage during those middle short climb fast as hell missions. Also learned how the two staged under carrige works the hard way. After D Bader brought it up I heard a new set is on its way to Gravesend with DHL express. Strange scoring. I really saw that bitch burning and decending at a fast speed. Not a chance in hell it made it back to France. Sod it.

1. DDz Quorum DD_Fenrir Posted March 11, 2016 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 11, 2016 Nevermind Swep! Someone probably got more hits on it prior to your attack and your short burst, whilst flaming the bugger, as percentage of the number of hits was actually low. It ain't fair but them's the breaks. Next time mate! Great work Perf!
Sweper
Darn good show this session, at the SOW server, but also at our own... good teamwork and shift!! Enjoyed it very much! Agree FT. If we fly like this and stay together and everyone watch his buddys hinten we will do well.
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted March 11, 2016 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 11, 2016 Hey Perf, you got nerf' .. taking my V6603 up there! Without asking for permission! She's mine! Good show! Thanks for the story! (@Swep: The one burning could've been shot at by me initialy, I shot at multiple a/c, whenever one turned away out of formation after my shooting, I moved on to the next one ...) 1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted March 12, 2016 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 12, 2016 (...) New plane but I'm sure there was nothing wrong with Hurri P2824. (...) You might think so, but no, it is in repairs currently ... so you must've mishandled it somewhere along the way...
Perfesser
Ummm....yes I'm responsible for that.....I was leading the flight. Last night GK and I went up for a quick test flight as there was only 45 min remaining and as I came over the fence I called "2 green", our signal that "I have checked my gear and have 2 green lights, do the same". Following aircraft are busy making sure they don't over run the leader on landing. He assured me that the gear lever was firmly in the down position on landing but later said that P2824 seemed to be "floating a long way down the runway"....... The mechanics had rolled out venerable V6603 for me. I returned it with the tape still covering the gun ports and I barely scuffed the tires. I see they haven't yet painted my 2 crosses on your fuselage. One note: We joined the Dogz server after that. I managed to run a Hurri completely out of fuel. You must put the gear down before the engine completely stops or it won't come down.... and it's a good idea to test your emergency gear down drills ahead of time because there's no time to figure that stuff out on a dead stick short final.
1. DDz Quorum DD_Fenrir Posted March 12, 2016 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 12, 2016 Gentlemen, There is no ATA currently so we will have to collect our own a/c from the supply base (if you don't know where that is ask elsewhere - this is a public forum!). Currently we have 1x hurri & 1 spit assigned. I will try to get one or both later this eve, otherwise if one of you is at a loose end please feel free to go fetch! 1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted March 12, 2016 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 12, 2016 Job done, uneventfull flight - At start 4 Reds vs 18 Blues ... lol Good flight, good navigation, after I picked up some landmarks for re-assurance... Perfect 3 point landing, yes! Oh, no signs indicating the proper heading for landing on our field though... weird.
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted March 13, 2016 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) After repairs and +1 transport, we're back up to the same number we had at the start of the first session. Perf, thanks for the heads-up about the emergency gear procedure, will check it out... Edit: Here's the basics, what I could find on the subject: - You can use the emergency system one time only If difficulty is experienced in selecting wheels "DOWN", or the wheels fail to drop (indicated by the failureof the RED lights to extinguish), select wheels "UP" again and press the operating lever for 15 secondsor operate the hand pump; after which select wheels "DOWN" immediately.1. Reduce Speed to -- 90 MPH -- ASI2. Press Undercarriage Emergency Release Knobs with -- BOTH FEET -- and Select Wheels -- DOWN ?? Perfesser
I was playing with the gear afterwards. I could find no way to have any manual gear down procedure do anything.
