  1. Got the same processor as you Perf. It's fine for now, but I'll need a new mainboard before I think about a new processor. Jabo
  2. It's proper impressive is that.
  3. Don't know how far that wingtip was from the ground, but that could have been expensive.
  4. Absolutely. Mind you, my decree nisi came through yesterday, so maybe I'm a little biased. Jabo
  5. Should add 'Merlin-engined' to that title.
  6. MMMM, I love the smell of depleted uranium in the morning.
  7. I sure hope it can be switched off GK, I was getting a touch of motion sickness.
  8. Like Bojan I use multiple partitions/physical disks to help ease the burden of 'doing a Quazi', and to help data security. My OSes sit on a 500GB drive split into two for XP and Win 7 (c: and d:). I have a second 500GB (e:) which acts as a data drive for both OSes. Drives f: thru m: are for...erm....
  9. JP, here's the thing. If you're using the easy transfer cable to go from XP to 7, you need to have the right ETC driver for your XP machine. Just running the software that 7 provides you with won't work. I don't have it here, but I do have a copy at work. If you can hang on, I'll send it to you a little later (I'll be home about 6 this evening - I can walk you through the process via TS if you like). Basically you install the driver, then the software 7 gives you, then plug the cable in. It's straightforward enough, but is a bit confusing at first sight. Jabo
  10. Snacko's right Pooka. If your new machine has the 64-bit version of Windows 7, you will find two folders on your C: drive named 'Program Files' & 'Program Files x86'. The 'Program Files' folder is for 64-bit applications only, all the 32-bit apps (like IL2) go into the x86 folder. (If the PC is on 32-bit Win 7 then you just get a 'Program Files' folder. Obviously 64-bit applications will not run on this OS). Rather than installing IL2 afresh though, I'd be inclined to make a copy of your game folder on a memory stick or external hard drive, and copy the whole thing to a new folder (for example mine's in e:\IL2 Downloads\). I'm not sure how your rig is set up Pook, but I would suggest you try to use 64-bit versions of drivers and software where possible. For example I have the 64-bit version of the Saitek software for my X52, and my headset also has 64-bit drivers, although I've yet to see 64-bit software for TrackIR, so I'm using the 32-bit version and it works fine. For what it's worth, I feel that Windows 7 is so flexible and versatile that I really don't mind the very slight inconvenience of needing to change the installation folder for IL2. Jabo
  11. Most LCD monitors won't refresh at anything faster than 60Hz in any case. Which may be why you get 'tearing' if you attempt to force the frame rate higher. Personally, I'd rather not have the tearing issue, so have locked my frame rate @ 60fps, and everything's rosy. Still can't fly worth a damn but it looks nice while I'm sat in my crater. Jabo
  12. Sounds like a good idea to me m8 - just needs a pair of 50's...
  13. Well, given that the old boy is one of the 'at risk' groups (he had his spleen removed as part of a cancer op a few years ago), the whole family's had it. No side effects AFAIK. Jabo
  14. I'll second that - and I'm including lager.

    Hi everyone

Growing older is mandatory - growing up strictly optional.
  16. Not that I've ever heard of Pooka - incredible!
  17. Damn, you're way ahead of the group. Most of us are at 50% success rate in taxying. Get your ass online m8, it's a way better place to learn. Most of us screw up frequently - it's just that we don't admit it.
