Running 8.1, aside from the bloody awful interface it is much more responsive than 7, and uses much less RAM. I don't install in anything with 'Program' in the name of course, DCS runs smooth, not had a chance to see how IL2 runs yet but thinking it will be fine.

Your install is on your G: drive and Steam is on C:? If you want to recover your old steam library, if it still exists, then I suggest you find it (usually under \program files (x86) on your original C: drive) Then: Exit Steam Delete all of the files and folders except the SteamApps folder and Steam.exe Run Steam.exe in the recovered directory, make a shortcut to this for future use and/or update the existing shortcut. Steam will then re-download itself, and recover the installed files (they will need to re-install but not download again) The My Dovcuments folder you mentioned, copy contents of that to your new one after running IL2 BoS once (so it creates a new one).

Just throwing this out there: Is your CPU showing stable speeds? I was pulling my hair out when I had to swap out Mobo after my original arrived here in the US, and failed to power up the GPU. I had random stuttering in pretty much any game, after much trouble shooting I determined it was because the CPU was being down clocked randomly by the board. Setting clock speeds etc. to hard values rather than the automatic values solved it. Using CPU-Z or CPU-ID I saw the speed fluctuating without load, just running that app!

Better yet.. Let me clear down the backups that had failed to be removed by the housekeeping scripts! Sorry

Try clearing the Cache, I often find that to be an issue in FF as well as Chrome.

ZoneAlarm doing a fall special for $19 Use Kaspersky personally on 5 systems, and McAfee (crap) on laptop where it killed my work VPN install! MS Essentials I have tried in the past, all seemed good then over time found it was eating CPU cycles. Kept getting random pauses, probably been fixed since. Avira I liked, used that for a while

Brings back memories, I lived in Malta for a couple of years back in 1971/2. The old buses have gone now I hear, they were a remarkable sight. There used to be a tunnel in Malta, don't recall where, but the road was made by the Chinese and as smooth as a baby's bum compared to the Maltese linked potholes that pass for a road. When I was at school in Essex a WW2 veteran pilot visited, and regaled us with tales of his experience in Malta. Including landing at Valletta airport... what bloody airport!!

Don't install it under Program Files, create a dir under C:\ for it?

There is a cheaper hosting option, if it is determined we do not need a dedicated server then we can simply rent a web server and team speak server. If that is the direction we, as a group, decide we should be going then I can get this done. I will refund the donations, minus the 2 months that has now been paid, and start a new target. I'll put together prices/options.
