JensenPark Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 ok chaps... opinions please - say you had the choice of one (and that your hag of a wife actually let you fly for more than a few minutes a week)...would you choose and upgrade from an X45 to an X52 or go to Track IR? Side question: How many of you have given up on Track IR? Quote
FlatSpinMan Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Hey JP, Can't help as I own neither stick but the comment about Track IR is interesting. I still don't have it and probably won't, but it sounds pretty nifty. Are some people getting disenchanted with it? Quote
ShaK Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 well(switches to "god voice") YOU NEED TRACK IR Quote
Rattler Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I would like to get Track IR. I won't be worrying about a new set of controls when my X45 and CH pedals finally arrive Quote
Shadow Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 The X-45 is a fine controller. Although IMO the 52 is better. But, really, this a no-brainer. Quote
delta7 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 track ir mate - id rather fly without my left testicle than without that Quote
Klinger Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Theres some good pilots here that still dont have TIR. When they finally do get it, we're toast Quote
DZ9 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 TIR has completely transformed my appreciation of the game. it really is revolutionary, it just makes flying about doing circuits a beautiful experience you mean you dont have TIR Kelly? Remind me to stay away from you when you do get it, your already a bit of a demon in a 47 Quote
FlatSpinMan Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 So what are you saying, guys - TrackIR is kind of not bad? Just be honest and say what you mean!! I hate all this "read between the Quote
Tonar Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I had a Dot Tattooed in the center of my head with reftective ink Last week. I would go for the TrackIR if Your stick still works. Quote
sged Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 "Read between the lines"?? I think it's pretty obvious that Tir IS the TOOL to fly with! Since I have it, it's sublieme, and can't really imagine flying without it anymore...and wait till they upgrade IL2 or BoB comes out, and you can use the 6 degrees of freedom, then I think, Tir will come to it's fullest right! Dunno about the X-52, my old joystick hasn't given up on me yet, but it's sure on my wishlist, together with some pedals...only thing that needs to be done is to convince the wife of the urgency of the matter Quote
FlatSpinMan Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Ahh. Suddenly it all becomes clear. I just don't know if I can take the roars of laughter from my wife if I use the reflector dot thing. Either that or the looks of pity. She's a charming thing but totally immune to the joys of IL2, sadly. Hey sged - so what was that chocolate thing you were talking about before? Quote
Blairgowrie Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 If he likes you he sends you a slightly used Belgium chocolate. Quote
1. DDz Quorum B16Enk Posted December 7, 2006 1. DDz Quorum Posted December 7, 2006 TiR Is the most useful peripheral aside from a joystick and any joystick will pretty much do when you have TiR. Quote

1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted December 7, 2006 1. DDz Quorum Posted December 7, 2006 i bought tir4 recently and it has made a lot of difference to the s.a (although i am still not very good at it!) it can be a bit frustrating at first until you have tweaked the settings to suit you. delta7 has written a very good review on warclouds and can point you in the direction of template settings. it is simple to tweak and does not reuire any technical ability. i have the threee poinmt clip that comes with it on the baseball cap that came with it. flying in a group is real cool when you can turn your head around and look at the other around you. i used to use a hat to look before but found the jerkyness of it frustrating. bottom line GO FOR IT! Rattler Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Just wondering: would a used Track IR 2 be better than no Track IR at all, or a waste of money? I usually can't justify the expense of new, and most guys don't seem to be selling their 3's or 4's (go figure!) Quote
Vacillator Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Rattler I'd say $50 CAN would definitely not be a waste for TIR2. Quote

Rattler Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 get in touch with BG - he has a tir 3 spare mate I'll do that! Everybody else, PISS OFF! IT'S MINE! Watch it: I have guns...... Quote
Fireman Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 TIR for sure.......if and when mine ever dies, those will be the most boring few weeks of my flight sim life....cause I wont fly without it (hopefully shipping would be quicker than a couple of weeks though)..... Quote
Quazi Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Arthur has a TiR 3 that he isn't using. He may be persuaded to sell it, don't know. All I know is I sold it to him a long time ago. Just couldn't get used to it. Felt sick and nauseated everytime I got under it. And ended with a damn crik in my neck every time. Although I do wish I could use one. Quote
