Oldtimer Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 These 2 flew a circuit over the house this afternoon, then headed off South. Quote
GreyKnight Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Jabo will! He'll even give you their engine serial numbers. I know they're definitely NOT a pair of Incom T-65 X-wing fighters. But I'm glad I could help. Quote
1. DDz Quorum Sid Posted September 9, 2009 1. DDz Quorum Posted September 9, 2009 Hurricanes perhaps? Did they have the Merlin growl? Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 9, 2009 2. Administrators Posted September 9, 2009 Sorry to disappoint you GK, but I can't give you the serial numbers - I'm not even sure what they are. Possibly Hurricanes, but then again the proportions of the tail section doesn't look quite right. A number of things they could be really. NOTAMS for the Reading area provide no clues as to test flights or transitions. I'll check with the restoration crowd on the HA forum, somebody there will know (they're the one's with the serial numbers GK!) Jabo Quote
erco Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I could be very wrong, but perhaps that there is a brace of Yak 18/Nanchang CJ-6's. Quote
Oldtimer Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 Well whatever they are, they seem to be breeding. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 11, 2009 2. Administrators Posted September 11, 2009 That would do it erco. they do look to be radials to me. Quote
Rattler Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 That would do it erco. they do look to be radials to me. That's what I was thinking as well, Erco. Those Chinese copies of the Yak's are quite popular. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 11, 2009 2. Administrators Posted September 11, 2009 Probably the same group who did the formation display at Duxford - can't say for sure - think I may have been at the bar Quote
Oldtimer Posted September 12, 2009 Author Posted September 12, 2009 Think you may have cracked it guys. Quote
Fireman Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 so how come you guys can distinguish what those planes were from that itsy bitsy tiny photo............and yet, when we fly with no icons we end up with a bunch of friendly fire incidents (or lack of fire due to being unable to distinguish friend from foe).......LOL Quote
BadAim Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Simple mate, a lack of resolution. What we all need is much larger monitors and the (very) expensive computers that can drive them. We can all explain to our wives that it is a humanitarian effort that requires all that money. Of course time would be the simplest explanation, but I like the big monitor better. Quote
Rattler Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I thought that they were Yak's because of the long tail, and very far forward main wing. We had one of those at our local airport for the last few years, and it flew overhead all the time. Really nice boomy radial sounds out of that one..... Quote

You gotta agree with Fireman there, some Dogz have mistaken a three engined Ju-52 transport plane for a Spit, and worse! Quote
Rattler Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 some Dogz... No names, no pack drill! Quote
