JensenPark Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Hey all... Grumpy just landed in Edmonton...home of me, Rattler and Magpie. (My hotel is graciously sponsoring the stop here on its way to Everett, Wa). Magpie and I were there to watch the landing. Quote
Enforcer57 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I love the ultra rare old C/d models, so few of them. Is that an F-101B behind you toward the end? I took a few shots of one of those back in the early 80s at an airshow at Dobbins AFB. Quote
Rattler Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Very cool, Kelly! Thanks for the pics. Now, just get them to park it over in the aviation museum, and break something so that it can't move.... Quote

2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 1, 2009 2. Administrators Posted September 1, 2009 Nice to see she's there safely. Good shots JP. Jabo Quote
GreyKnight Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Nice pics JP. Anyone know why that bomb-bay door, or pilot access hatch, has EXPERIMENTAL written on it? Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 1, 2009 2. Administrators Posted September 1, 2009 I think it's to do with the restoration work carried out on the aircraft to return her to 'original' spec vis the top turret which was removed while she was a 'camera ship' doing film work. In addition, she had different nose glazing, and a redesigned tail section. Jabo Quote
JensenPark Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 I'm off shortly for an inside tour. Quote

JensenPark Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Yup...John Romain. Just had dinner and beers with him Quote
deadly_magpie Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 But wait! There's MORE!!! Here's my pics; Good gravy I look utterly insane in that picture. INSAAAANNE!! Probably my best shot, shoulda taken more of that angle. Landing just as the sun was slipping below the horizon at the end of a VERY long flight, the crew looked really tired. A wider view. It taxied in slowly, guided by museum personnel. Thanks JP for the great tip!! Quote
BadAim Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 That is beautiful, just freaking beautiful. I have a much higher opinion of you because of this JP, I rate you as nearly human now. (Love of sheep aside) Quote
Rattler Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 So, Kelly send sme an email about this plane coming into the city, and invites me up to dinner with the crew, the local aviation museum, and the local RCAF squadron association. Of course I can come! Fantastic evening, Kelly! Thanks alot! I'm not sure how much you guys know just how much of a supporter Kelly is of Canadian aviation, but damn I'm impressed with his efforts! Kudos, mate! You do our vets proud! Oh, but the way - did I mention that I got to sit next to this guy during the whole dinner and talk shop with him? Click me... (the top guy on the list, Lee. Wow! Fantastic bloke to meet! Working right now on a beautiful restoration of a Mk IX Spit at Duxford. Thanks again, Kelly! Quote
Rattler Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Check out the website for the trip here; lots of pictures! Click me... Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 2, 2009 2. Administrators Posted September 2, 2009 Interesting but tragic point...It was Lee Proudfoot's father 'Hoof' who was killed in the crash of ARCo's P-38 at Legends several years ago. Quote
1. DDz Quorum Painless Posted September 2, 2009 1. DDz Quorum Posted September 2, 2009 ~S~ JP M8, Fantastic pics, (you to Magpie sir ) Kelly you really are a smooth operator aren't you !! LOL Quote
Blairgowrie Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I would like to echo some of the comments about JP's support of the vets. Really quite outstanding and so generous with his company's money. I remember well the day we went to see the Halifax restoration and he sprung for a great breakfast. The team working on the restoration treated us like kings although Kelly was obviously a Queen! Well done m8. You are a credit to the the Squad. Quote
JensenPark Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Thanks guys...it's all for the cause. Quote
