  1. But wait! There's MORE!!! Here's my pics; Good gravy I look utterly insane in that picture. INSAAAANNE!! Probably my best shot, shoulda taken more of that angle. Landing just as the sun was slipping below the horizon at the end of a VERY long flight, the crew looked really tired. A wider view. It taxied in slowly, guided by museum personnel. Thanks JP for the great tip!!
  2. That would be an Avenger. They are MASSIVE for single engined A/C. It was lost along with a flyable Spit and Hurri when the very hangar in the picture BURNED in the early 90's. The Lanc was luckily on its gear and was dragged away from the flames by volunteers. Close one!
  3. Yes, well done. I was all over this beast when it was in Edmonton, took a ton of pics but my camera is just adequate. I got to take the sequel to one of my old pics;
  4. I met Kelly for a beer today in Edmonton, he is without his PC or good net access and I was ranting and raving about all the new planes. I am SO glad to see the S.79!! On another note we are poised for VIP access to the CWH Lancaster which will be flying here Friday. I will be camped out by the runway awaiting its arrival....
  5. Thanks JP. I'll try to get Wednesdays off, but IMAX is a harsh taskmistress.

  7. Hi All, Checking back in after months offline, yes a move to Edmonton and a divorce is involved. Are there still Wednesday co-ops? How about the weekend, too bad I always work weekends. Hi also to JP, seems you are in Edmonton too now, go figure. I also have a new rig, X-52 and pedals, and TrackIR 4 which is a real mind-blower!

  9. Ding dang it. All moved in at the new place, but looks like I will be working evening shift....for months!!! Can't wait to transfer to day shift, when that happens, I'll be back.
  10. Sorry I missed last Wednesday's flight, I was really looking forward to it. I am in the middle of moving, it may be a while before I'm back online and sorted out. Hopefully I'll have better ping! I'll be just south of Goose on the Howling Prairie. Catch you all later!
  11. I guess I have to drop it a little higher! 100m and I take myself out every time....even if I fly fast enough to almost tear the wings off.
  12. Arrows are not a mod AFAIK, they are arcade=1 in conf.ini. I tried jabo in the Silverplate...no go.
  13. I hope the S.79 gets released at AAA. I want to make a Pedestal mission pack, it would sure be a nice addition. My Grandpa was on HMS Foresight, cut in half by a torp from an S.79
  14. I run two monitors and just park TS on the secondary, works a treat.
  15. I'm hoping this will on again for Wednesday this week. My tech issues are sorted and Snacko got me up to speed on level bombing, I am ready to fly the big iron. It's actually amazingly fun and easy. I have been really missing out!
  16. I had fun too after my tech issues were sorted. Sorry about the friendly kill.
  17. Thanks guys. I am also plowing through older threads, finding lots of useful info. Before I get online I want to be REALLY prepared and up to speed.
  18. Hi all, I've been told to make an intro post here...so this is it!!! This would be me in the nearby town of Port Alberni, with a Martin JRM Mars. My RL name is Paul and I'm forty...uh....three years old, born on the 20th anniversary of VE day in Wales. Emigrated to Canada as a toddler, lived all over the country. One relative was a linesman for the Brit 8th Army in North Africa, another was an Able Seaman, his RN destroyer HMS Foresight was sunk underneath him in Operation Pedestal. My parents were both bombed by the Luftwaffe in Cardiff. Married nearly 25 years, three grown kids. I live in a horrible little town on lovely Vancouver Island, probably moving back to Alberta sometime in the spring. I'm a decent graphic designer, designing paper models for www.worldworksgames.com. Plug! Plug! Buy my crap! I also do consulting and graphics for a new movie channel that will hopefully launch soon. I'm also a
  19. I believe the Caterpillar guy spent the rest of the war in captivity. I am hesitant to confirm this as I met dozens of people in a very short time. Also, I am swotting up to get back flying online, if all goes well I may be on this weekend. Might have try a bit of casual HL to get warmed up.
  20. Hi, it's jolly_magpie form the Ubizoo. I have chosen a more aggro nick for here. Thanks tons to jensenpark for the invite! I had a blast.... The Stirling pilot won the DFC on Wellingtons early in the war. From what I was able to gather he did a "dummy" run on a defended target and went around to plaster it on the next pass. He modestly said they seemed to think this was noteworthy! He was in the very first class of the Empire Air Training Scheme, {later the BCATP} graduating in Nova Scotia. Went straight on to Wellingtons and later flew the Stirling, he talked of the very tall and fragile undercarriage, if you landed it crosswind you had to kick it straight with the rudder before touchdown or you would rip the gear right off! He did over 60 ops to the Reich! I asked if he saw any enemy A/C and he told me of the dramatic night his mid-upper gunner shot down an Me110. "We figured he was a sprog pilot, he attacked from underneath with his forward-firing guns, raked our ship and then "popped up" over us. The mid-upper gunner raised his guns straight up and let him have it. I could look up and see his gray belly and big black crosses." Me: "The rifle caliber guns did not have much hitting power..." "Well, I saw large chunks coming off with a lot of sparks. Fifteen seconds later we all saw a big flash on the ground as he went in." After the war his brother did some checking to see who they shot down and it turns out he was a skilled pilot with something like four kills. As we talked, he indicated the relative position of the A/C with his hands, as did I. Then it hit me....I was doing that "talk with your hands" thing that pilots do...with a real WW2 pilot!! I had chills... There were two DFC winners in that room...two wartime fighter pilots...one member of the Caterpillar Club...does it get any better than that!?!?! I also had a nice chat with a charming Dutch lady who as a teenager watched the Brit paratroops descending on her home town...Arnhem! All in all an amazing day, scarcely touched by the atrocious weather on my drive home.
