Here's a little prize for you...Yes, for the first time ever I'm at the Shuttleworth Collection season opening air show. There's a Bristol Fighter in the overhead right now and I'm watching a Hawker Demon starting up. Lovely!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 4 Quote

2. Administrators Jabo Posted May 8, 2017 Author 2. Administrators Posted May 8, 2017 Well, that was a great show. So many aircraft I'd heard about but never seen fly, plus a black Spitfire (!), 2 Hurris, a Mk 1 Spit, Catalina and and and. Some photos and a vid for FT later.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 1 Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted May 8, 2017 Author 2. Administrators Posted May 8, 2017 Things seen but forgot to photo - Bristol Fighter, Vega Gull, Po-2, steam lorries, old cars and bikes, traction engines. Much epicness! Will definitely do again!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 2 Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted May 8, 2017 Author 2. Administrators Posted May 8, 2017 Interestingly enough, the Sopwith Triplane in the first photo is a reproduction but apparently is so 'original' that Tommy Sopwith who saw it completed before he passed away said that as far as he was concerned that the production run of the Triplane had been extended by 1. High praise indeed! 2 Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted May 9, 2017 Author 2. Administrators Posted May 9, 2017 So a few photos... Catalina Hawker Demon Fauvel somethingorother BBMF Spit LFXVI (I think) - Black primer! On a check flight from Coningsby - just stopped by! DH.60 Moth (The first aircraft bought by Richard Shuttleworth and record holder for the longest residency at a single airfield by any aircraft) and Miles Magister DH.85 Leopard Moth and Hawker Tomtit Miles pair - Messenger and Gemini Spit and Hurri trio DH.88 Comet "Grosvenor House" (Squeee!) - Easily the star of the show for me & something I've been wanting to see for years. So much so that I forgot to take any more photos... 3 Quote

DD_Arthur Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Is the DH Comet the most beautiful piece of machinery ever to take to the air? It screams 'speed' in a uniquely art-deco way....... Quote
