So I'm off on my travels again today. Anyone want to hazard a guess where? Here's a clue...

Yes, for the first time ever I'm at the Shuttleworth Collection season opening air show. There's a Bristol Fighter in the overhead right now and I'm watching a Hawker Demon starting up. Lovely!

Well, that was a great show. So many aircraft I'd heard about but never seen fly, plus a black Spitfire (!), 2 Hurris, a Mk 1 Spit, Catalina and and and. Some photos and a vid for FT later.

Things seen but forgot to photo - Bristol Fighter, Vega Gull, Po-2, steam lorries, old cars and bikes, traction engines. Much epicness! Will definitely do again!

Interestingly enough, the Sopwith Triplane in the first photo is a reproduction but apparently is so 'original' that Tommy Sopwith who saw it completed before he passed away said that as far as he was concerned that the production run of the Triplane had been extended by 1. High praise indeed!

Is the DH Comet the most beautiful piece of machinery ever to take to the air?

It screams 'speed' in a uniquely art-deco way.......
