Ok, just because the word "trainer" came up, I'll give it a guess: Curtis JN-4 "Jenny" Probably wrong but it is the closest yet, me think.

Well, the first two pics' with openable doors just don't fit -but- so does that thingie at the top of the top-wing. My guess is that the origin is a De Havilland DH60 Moth?

The only two I could think of is the DH60 and DH51 and a so called Gipsy Moth with foldable wings. It is a De Havilland, yes, period!

It ís British, and a trainer/tourer.

 

(I'll post its true identity after I've finished my dinner, the meal has been ordered and paid for, not sure when it will arrive though... )
