Funny that. From what I've read, by the time Germany itself was invaded, the Germans had largely had enough of the war (and I believe that they also largely realized that they were on the wrong side by then too).
The Germans did use locals for anti partisan work, with results that caused veteran Waffen SS officers to cringe. It's a difficult and sensitive subject to this day.
BG was once asked why he was so adamant about seeking out Brits for the Dogz. He said something about them having Class and style. I can only agree. Three cheers for our mates "across the pond". I really love you guys, even when I'm not drunk.
Flashing can indeed be a bit risky, and needs to be done very carefully. I can testify as one who has borked a bios chip, but then again that was one out of dozens of flashes and I was admittedly being decidedly NOT careful. I now hold to the advice not to flash if there is no real reason.
War is the strangest of all human endeavours, nearly anything is possible, especially when you consider that the soldiers that actually fought the war had more in common with each other than with those who sent them there in the first place.
Funny thing, I usually dismiss most such stories as BS, but it somehow rings true. Even if the guy who wrote it was full of shit, I'm sure someone somewhere............
Ultrapack is running good over here as well, and it's impressive. The installer is strange, but it works perfectly. The selection of planes is amazing. If it had a provision to run the HSFX pack (which it is based on) through Jgsme, it would be perfect.
