Bad day for me yesterday. My new Samsung went in the dumper and my attempt to back up and restore only succeeded in knocking out Windows. This is what I was trying to do. I tried saving Helen's computer setup and transfer the image to my back up computer. The image saving to an external hard drive seemed to go ok. Then I switched the external drive to my back computer and tried a restore. Everything looked ok. It said it had to reboot to complete the transfer and on reboot Acronis screen appeared and it started to restore but suddenly gave a black screen and windows was gone. Reloaded Windows and Acronis and tried again. Same bloody thing happened. Heading off to Toronto today to pick up another widescreen. I have passed the time limit for direct store replacement.

Sorry I missed it Colin. My new widescreen Samsung decided to give up the Ghost when I was sitting under the wing and Helen's computer crashed when I tried to run Acronis.

This Forum has been very important to me Chet. Even my icologist and urologist know about it and tell me how lucky I am to have a support group like the Dogz. I couldn't agree more!

I am sorry to say my cancer has metastasized to my stomach and my lower back. PSA has gone from 1.6 to 170 and then back down to 57 thanks to the drug trial. I didn't want to say anything because , as you know I can't stand talking about it. Going to Duxford this past year was so important to me and I really appreciated the respect and friendship from all of you who attended. I wouldn't have said anything about the cancer but getting kicked from the drug trial has really thrown me. I went to see my Uroligist today for my quarterly hormone injection and he can't understand why either. He has emailed the oncologist in charge of the study to ask for an explanation. I intend to fight to get back in. Saw the doctors again yesterday. All the tests re heart ECG, Echo and bloods indicate the heart is strong, Xray still shows fluid in the lung. They have taken me off a trial drug I was on over my objections. I will now get a CAT scan done as soon as possible in Owen Sound.

Funny you should mention big rocks. I found a really big one and thought it would look nice at the beginning of our driveway. Next day Bell telephone showed up to advise me I had managed to drop it on my neighbours telephone line and cut it. I had to take my backhoe out and dig a new trench for their stupid wire. They had only buried it an inch deep and it ran right across my driveway! Thanks guys definitely on the mend but I have a ways to go yet.

As some of you know, I developed an acute shortness of breath about a week ago. It was so bad I could hardly make it up a flight of stairs and when I did I had to sit for 5 minutes just to get my breath back. I went to see my doc and he did an immediate chest X Ray. My lungs were full of fluid. I was given an immediate intravenous injection of a drug called Lasix. In the 4 days since then I have pissed almost every hour. My weight has dropped over 15lbs. Yesterday I spent over 5 hours at the local hospital getting all kinds of tests done to make sure I hadn't suffered a "silent" heart attack. One of the blood tests they did was for Troponin, the enzime that is released after a heart attack and stays in the blood for 2 weeks. The good news was there no sign of Troponin. They have concluded the fluid buildup was from all the friggin drugs I take. I sure feel a lot better and can breathe normally but I am very weak. I will be hosting UBI Zoo today but will likely miss next Tuesday. I am scheduled back at the hospital for more tests on Tuesday.

Sorry to highjack your thread Snack but I have a question about Acronis. If one does a full backup to an external drive, do you then do a windows XP reformat on the hard drive? When you do the backup from Acronis, I assume this also has Windows XP in the back up? Does the backup restore overwrite the operating system? Many thanks.

As soon as the Red Lion finds out what Holiday Inn is charging for the Flying Legends, I wouldn't be the least surprised if they matched price.

The new Holiday Inn looks really nice and comfortable, I doubt I will be able to make it this time but look forward to seeing all the great pictures.

Well I went for the full upgrade. I'll post specs when I am sober. The 5970 did not work so they are holding a replacement card for me which I will pick up on Wednesday.
