Sweper Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 The battle of Axtorna took place 1565 and involved around 20.000 soldiers and killed over 4.000 of them. It was part of the 7 years of warfare between Denmark and Sweden. Once in a while the Axtorna Historical society perform a re-enactment of the battle. The Danes won and they were better equipped and heavier armed and had a lot of help from German soldiers. The Swedes were mainly farmers with some help from Scottish legionares. The area where the battle took place. The Swedish soldiers were poorly armed. Performing some practice before the battle. The Danish troup with better arms, including more cannons and were better dressed. The flag is a union flag representing Denmark, Germany and Skane. The latter now belongs to Sweden. They also used Cavallery. Random pics from the Battle and the Camp. Pep-talk! Quote

BadAim Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I thought it was only the Brits that celebrated their defeats. Takes a hearty people. Those guns look pretty modern for that era, if that's what the Danes were equipped with it's no wonder a beat down ensued. I assume you guys built up a real army and proceeded to kick some Danish ass at a more convenient time later? Quote
PropNut Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Very cool pictures Sweper. Thanks for sharing. The photos are very good quality. Quote

Sweper Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 I assume you guys built up a real army and proceeded to kick some Danish ass at a more convenient time later? Yep, this particular area 1645. Rest of south Sweden around 1683 and the Danes capitulated at last 1719 when they gave up Helsingborg. Dunno about the cannons and guns. But they sounded alright Thanks PropNut and BluBear! Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted September 26, 2011 2. Administrators Posted September 26, 2011 Nice photos as always Swep. I take it you were in the thick of things? Jabo Quote
DD_Arthur Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Great photos Swep. The Danes won because they led the way in sixteenth century cod-piece technology by the look of things. Quote
Jediteo Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Never underestimate the military advantage of a wellcrafted codpiece. Quote
BadAim Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Never underestimate the military advantage of a wellcrafted codpiece. Yep can't be beat. Especially when your threatening to rip out your opponents eye out and skull fuck him to death. I mean, he just might be wondering if you're properly equipped. Quote
