BluBear Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Saw this posted on one of the aviation forums, the quality of the footage isn't great but it's quite a sight all the same! Quote
GreyKnight Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 So if it was successful, why didn't they carry it on as normal? I guess just one Herc would tie up an entire carrier, and nothing else could launch or land till the Fat Albert buggered off? Quote

I guess just one Herc would tie up an entire carrier, and nothing else could launch or land till the Fat Albert buggered off? Good question, I think you have a valid point though. Imagine if they were way out to sea and the 130 went U/S on the deck. Where would you put it?! lol. Great skill from the pilots in question, especially as they had no previous experience on type, or any multi engined type at all! Quote
rox Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 That carrier needs one of these on the deck just in case Quote
Jediteo Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 This was on the USS Forrestal I think, they needed a new aircraft for at sea replenishment and cargo hauling. While aweosome, the herky bird was not suited for carrier ops (It could not be stowed below decks). They then came up with the C2 Greyhound COD, while smaller is equally awesome Quote
BadAim Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 WOW! Just one more notch in the 130's impressive gun belt. Quote
rox Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 They then came up with the C2 Greyhound COD I bet Oleg did the flight modeling. Quote
