The Logitech G940: A different view.

No weaknessses as I've found out but the pedals could have been a little bit less "flimsy". Not that they are awful right now but I don't like the rotational play(1mm maybe) they have. They are pedals for grown men for christ sake, they should feel more sturdy. And the pivot-arm should have been aluminium since I can feel the flex sometimes. Well, the pedals aren't really that good are they......

It's all about grades of plastic, isn't it, and how long the various types endure? I'm sitting here with a 6-year old set of CH pedals under my feet and they still function as well as new. They don't look very exciting but they are sure as hell tough! I recently took in a set of CH for renovation (CS, PT, PP) and they are 12 years young. I stripped all three controllers and found I needed to solder one wire and replace one spring. Total cost was £2.00, mostly postage. None of the potentiometers was at all flakey, and once I had removed all traces of house-dust, fag-ash and coffee, everything calibrates and runs like silk.

I'll wait to see when the G940 passes the 5 year test - by which time my CH gear will be in its eleventh, or maybe less if my suspicions are correct.

Sorry FT, for all the CH touting :) It just reveals my miserliness about spending out on flightgear ;)

Kimo, what is your opinion on the stick? It's FFB?

The FFB is ok but IL-2 just drops the FFB every time you alt-tab the game so I've just stopped using it. Love the stick but IL-2's FFB deactivation can get on your nerves. I've heard about some workarounds somewhere and how you want the FFB to react etc. in IL-2 but I'm too lazy to mess around with it. I'm flying with all the stock pressure settings, I just figured why not just get used to the stick how it is right out of the box. Suits me well.

Hm, yeah, but... then... why get a FFB stick?

I know about the Alt-Tab-effect, but... why Alt-Tab out of the game?

I prevent it... (using a 2nd computer for TS)

Thanks for the info, I might try that ...

Why a FFB stick? Because I'm a noobzer that was getting sick of flying IL-2 with a 360 pad and I didn't even know it had FFB back then. The G940 was a quick and complete solution for a HOTAS setup. Alt-tab is convenient for me when I want to change mods, close applications that I've forgot, forgetting details about JO SAT tests when sitting ready on the runway, watching porn in between flights etc. It's a PIA restarting the game all the time.

FFB comes back with next refly, no use in a co-op but in a DF.. ;)

Can't beat having a second monitor (well you can with a second pc...) a cheap second hand 15/17" screen works well for TS/Maps etc..

I have had mine for 5 days now and I find the FFB good. I can now feel when I am asking the aircraft to do something stupid :) Maybe mine is a good one but I seem to be better at shooting things down :o Inspired by Rattlers
