Blairgowrie
For those of you who couldn't get FSAutostart to run properly, you might be interested in this new utility. It closes down services you do not need when flying IL2 and restarts them after. It was also developed by Ken Salter, the guy who did FS Autostart. We need someone to test it out and report back. Blairgowrie
I installed it and had a look at the features. Very similar to FS Autostart except there is no list of recommendations to leave running or stop if running. Instead, you can link to a library of services but still have to make your own decision. Salter has added the recommendation option to his list of Required Features. Compared to FSAutostart, this is a much more professional launch. There is a PDF manual, screenshots, and a Forum. I am going to wait until they get the recommendations list running. I guess I could use FSAutostart to give me the recommendations and use them in Alacritypc. Might do that. I am also going to send Salter a small donation.

Tank's for the tip M8 I forgot to mention that I used this program with the default settings for last Sunday's SEOW, with no apparent ill effects, although I can't be sure how much of a performance boost I had with it. Fireman
for what its worth...I also play a little bit of lockon....(yes, there are other sims out there...lol) and they are endorsing this as a means of increasing FPS, or at least smoothing out the game) see http://lockonfiles.com/ for its review. T_O_A_D
Yeh I'm digging up bones. Ok, I just went and got this program, its default profile, kills the widows task bar, I want it still running, and I'm at a loss on what setting it is I need to change. I'm always minimizing the game, to mess with TS or what have ya. Any idea? I think its allot nicer prog than fsautostart, I just got to earn it a bit. Ash
I use this http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html prog and find it very good. Also gives you control over the processes it closes and additional checkboxes for other background services. Dead simple to use and works fine on 64bit systems too. This website - http://majorgeeks.com/ - has been a really useful resource for all sorts of stuff!

T_O_A_D
Yes Sweper, you can use these progs to shutdown unwanted apps, and use other aps besides games while doing so. I use it all the time when movie editing.

Perfesser
I installed both Game booster has 1 screen with all unnecessary processes clearly defined, better for the inexperienced user. 140,000 downloads Alacrity has many options but if you don't know exactly what you're doing ...... less than 500 downloads
