BBloke
A recap for this thread would be: Response time: the lower the better.
delta7
just to give you an idea my specs are response time - 8ms contrast -1300 brightness 300 and I have no problems- with my 1850 ATI I had to run it at its native resolution of 1280*1024 but with my nvidea I can run 1024*786 no problems. 1. DDz Quorum Painless Posted January 10, 2008 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted January 10, 2008 ~S~ Pooka M8, I am also thinking of getting a new widescreen monitor. Klinger has a nice Samsung 22" which looks superb. It has come down a bit in price since he bought his and is now around £200 for the latest version. All the specs are VERY good with a 2 ms response time etc. All he had to do was put a little piece of script into the "conf ini" to make the picture fill the screen without an oval shaped gunsight. My 21" flat screen monitor would then move across to the old computer to replace the 19"CRT. Klingers 22" widescreen really is excellent to fly on M8 !! Good luck Pook. ~S~ Painless
Rattler
Ok; how can I cause my CRT to "die" and at the same time convince Natalie that I need a new 22" flat screen??
BBloke
Get kitty to knock some tea on top of it.. just make sure its turned off or you are out of the way.
Klinger
~S~ Pooka, don't forget to ensure your graphics card will render 1680x1050 (native res of a 22" lcd). My ATI X1900XT gave me average 40 fps in IL2 on excellent settings. The equivilant NVidia card should be at least as good. If you can get a good deal on a Samsung 226BW just buy it and love it! Good luck m8.
1. DDz Quorum Pooka Posted January 11, 2008 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted January 11, 2008 I ordered the Samsung 226BW, not so sure if I got a good deal?? How can I find out if it will run my GPU (X850XT).
BBloke
Best way to test it is to try 1280 x 1024 (you have to change the conf.ini file directly) or 1280 x 960. It's not as high but its as close to 1680 x 1050 as your CRT will currently do. It may need some settings changes.. namely AA and AF. 1. DDz Quorum Pooka Posted January 11, 2008 Author 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted January 11, 2008 Hi Bbloke, I went to Properties and changed the desktop screen to 1280/1024 and 1280/960.
delta7
you have to edit the config file- LCD native resolution not included as an option in FB/AEP/PF Enter your screen values here and Save and start your game.... (if you later open the IL-2 Setup and close it by clicking OK it will change the resolution to 640x480 16bit, unless you change it to something else via this IL-2 Setup.) il2config - edit these lines [window] width=1280 height=1024 You will need the following values as well change SaveAspect=0 ChangeScreenRes=1 EnableResize=
Klinger
~S~ Delta, I got a bit confused when I had to edit the conf ini. So I'm not trying to upstage you here. Pook, just copy and paste this into your conf ini:

Cold_Gambler
Ordered my 22 inch LG today. woo hoo! Which model LG did you end up going for, JP?
JensenPark
L226WTY-BF found it online for $315 including shipping - as opposed to $400 in stores. found a lot of good reviews on it as well. Jensen and Parker (9 and 7) will now get my old 19in. so the little punks will have their own P4 and 19in monitor (they get my gaming leftovers). GreyKnight
Pooka, Yeah, use the DVI connection instead. You may need to reboot when you change cables over whilst the PC is on. As for drivers, you can update the monitor driver with the CD you got. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dvi
