Yep, that's the way it tends to work. Make sure you buy the unlocked 'K' variant of your CPU and it'll easily overclock to over 4GHz (my old 2500K i5 is stable at 4.1 GHz - air cooled too - I don't run it at that though, dialled it back to 3.8 and it shaves about 10 reg off the core temps - should extend the lifespan)

Not that great still, the phone company still have not installed broadband in our exchange yet so we have to use dongle and that only gives us 1.8 download and 1.2 upload on a good day. we are hoping they will get it sorted this year or I'm going to stick me a big aerial up in the garden lol.

Thanks Nick that's worth looking into, i think it was Scan where i paired up MB with CPU. Might go down that route :thumbsu: BB's just sorting me out some prices so we can see how it compares.

Here's mine for comparison;

CPU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-BX80662I56600K-Core-i5-6600K-LGA1151/dp/B010T6DCBS/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1459016028&sr=1-2&keywords=i5+6600K ( sans cooler)

Mobo: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-ga-z170-hd3p-intel-z170-s-1151-ddr4-satae-sata3-6gb-s-pcie-30-dvi-hdmi-atx-motherboard

Memory: http://www.ebuyer.com/719221-corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-dram-2133mhz-c13-memory-kit-cmk16gx4m2a2133c13

HDD: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/2tb-seagate-st2000dm001-barracuda-720014-sata-3-6gb-s-7200rpm-64mb-cache-8ms-oem-ncq

SSD: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/250gb-samsung-850-evo-25-ssd-sata-iii-6gb-s-mgx-3d-v-nand-512mb-cache-read-540mb-s-write-520mb-s-97k

GPU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-GeForce-Superclocked-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B00ZUXCGXG/ref=sr_1_31?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1459016730&sr=1-31&keywords=gtx980ti

As far as CPU cooling is concerned I'm using http://www.ebuyer.com/176157-arctic-cooling-freezer-7-pro-rev-2-socket-775-1150-1156-1155-ac-frz-7pr2 and http://www.ebuyer.com/450904-arctic-cooling-mx-2-4g-thermal-paste-or-mx2-ac-01 (be careful what you buy here - some thermal compounds are electrically conductive - this isn't though)

As far as a PSU is concerned, I'm hearing good things about this: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/nda-650w-corsair-rm650x-series-80-plus-gold-full-modular-sli-crossfire-single-rail-54a-plus12v-1x135

Thank you Nick, that seems to be about the same as i came up with after many hours of searching, don't think it will get much better than that. The PSU looks good,i think its time to part with some cash :thumbsu: and get it built, the GPU will probably be the last item on the list. The cooling link looks good, that's the next thing i need to learn about so i will be bending your ears later on as i get on with the build.Its been a great learning curve so far finding out what does what and goes with what ,it will be good to learn how a PC works eventually. :salute:

At last, got most of the parts for the new building project, just waiting for monitor keyboard mouse and windows 10. Blubear has got himself a job to do when he comes over for his sisters birthday because i have not a clue how to build or fire one up.

Looking forward to trying CLOD and DCS and flying with you guys. :salute:

ps big thank you  Nick for your contribution and to all the ear bashing i've given you over the past months. :thumbsu:

also thanks to my lovely wife Mrs Bear for allowing me to spend the hard earned cash on this project instead of something more important like tax and insurance for the van :love2:
