BadAim Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 So far my experience with DCS is that it is a massive pig. I think I will await the delivery of my Kray supercomputer before wasting any more time on it, unless anyone has any tips on curbing the five minute load times. Soooooooo frustrating. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Yep, it does seem fairly clunky but it gets there in the end.......eventually.......unless it decides to completely lock my 'puter. The first mission you start upon firing up the game does seem to take forever to load. I've got the P51 which is interesting for a couple of days but once you've got the hang of starting, flying and landing it becomes a snore-fest. However, since getting FC3 to work properly on Christmas Eve I've been having good fun with DCS. The 6 DoF reworking of some of the 'pits is really impressive. Must try and get online with Snacko and see if I can put a Bat up the nightdress of his A10 pilot in my beloved SU27. 1 Quote
OverDhill Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 A SSD does help a lot. Loads pretty fast here. The prices have come way down. Quote
Snacko Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 You'll need to buy me a drink first Arthur. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I'm getting dangerous in this thing - honestly, lol! I have radar scan mode on a slider Quote
DD_Arthur Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Su-27 !! Here I am seeing off an incursion into the airspace of the Peoples Republic of Sidmouth by the running dogs of neo-colonial, post-imperialism. The Peoples Republic has discovered oil! Quote
2. Administrators fruitbat Posted January 3, 2014 2. Administrators Posted January 3, 2014 Beautiful screenshots! has somebody shot your propeller off? Quote
BadAim Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 After DCS cocked up my stick and I had to restart my computer, I uninstalled it. I have plenty of dissipation in my life anyway. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted January 4, 2014 2. Administrators Posted January 4, 2014 I think that always happens for everybody with DCS Chet - it certainly happens for me. Quote
Snacko Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Yea, me too. The first load takes about 3-4 mins. After that it is quicker. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 1 Quote
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted January 4, 2014 1. DDz Quorum Posted January 4, 2014 DCS World was very quickly deleted from my SSD... lightnin' fast! (It's just... I won't/don't/can't handle more than two of them simu-things) Quote
DD_Arthur Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 You know, I'm really enjoyin' this propellerless flying business. Whilst it has to be said that DCS is a clunky and not brilliantly optimised bit of software - that has the most convoluted download process of all flightsims - once you've got it up and running then its pretty good. At least the Flaming Cliffs 3 bit of it is. I haven't got the A10C, I hate helicopters and the P51 bores me.......but. Weapon of choice Helmet mounted optical aiming system 6 DoF cockpits are coolio How it so often ends! Makes for a really good workout for a force feedback joystick too. Me like...........................................................................................................................................................until it goes wrong again Quote
Nage Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Trying to master this beast here . Still having trouble to maintain calm in hover but will learn soon...... Quote
