Oldtimer Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Evening Chaps, All going well so far. New box up and running, IL2 patched to 7.0.1. Then i hit a problem I have no perfect setting. IL2 installed on E:/Games drive, 32 bit colour on, stencil buffer on. When I check conf.ini I see that openGL hardware shaders = 0. I can edit it to 1, but after loading game it's set itself back to 0. I've even copied to flash drive, edited and copied back - still won't stick! System: MSI Z87 G45 mobo i5 4670k cpu 8GB 1600 ram win 7 home 64 bit and an Nvidia GTX 460, courtesy of Sid (thanks mate, arrived this morning. That's a Duxford beer or two for you......) Any ideas anyone please? Technically challenged OAP........ Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted December 18, 2013 2. Administrators Posted December 18, 2013 Try my conf.ini OT - it's got the setting you're having problems with conf.ini Quote
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted December 18, 2013 1. DDz Quorum Posted December 18, 2013 Probably due to a missing ' Attempt Stencil Buffer' setting, or OpenGL not being activated. Anyways, should all be fixed by Jabo's solution. Do I get the prize for 'most useless post of the day/week/month/year' ? Quote
1. DDz Quorum Sid Posted December 18, 2013 1. DDz Quorum Posted December 18, 2013 Have you got OpenGL set as the video provider as opposed to DirectX in the game settings? Good delivery on the card mate, impressed Quote
Crash Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Check where you installed it OT. Windows doesnt like it having 1946 in program files. Quote
Oldtimer Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 What happened to the easy life..... OpenGL set as provider. Renamed conf to confold and pasted Jabo's in. Game wouldn't start. Renamed Jabo's Conf to conf1, renamed confold to conf - game starts perfectly - with no perfect setting! Think I'll go play Silent Hunter....... @Crash - game installed on E drive/HSFX7, well away from c:/program files! Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted December 18, 2013 2. Administrators Posted December 18, 2013 Hop onto TS Adrian and we'll get you sorted out. If necessary we can fix it online via teamviewer or something - I'll go make a coffee and then jump on. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 This is the same sort of a problem you get with IL2 when you go from an ATI card to an Nvidia card but I've now had a bottle of Spitfire, two G&T's and a very large helping of my wife's chicken pie wiv' mash and gravy so I'm completely befuddled and can't remember which lines in the config you need to change. It was the same problem that Tonar had earlier in the year when he put a 460 in his machine. I bet FT knows - he's generally sober! Quote
Oldtimer Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Thanks Jabo, but not possible at the moment - am being "xmas-ed" apart from odd moments. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted December 18, 2013 2. Administrators Posted December 18, 2013 No worries matey. @Arthur - living the good life I see? Quote
Oldtimer Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Sorted! I did a line by line comparison with Jabos conf and noticed mine was on 16 bit colour! Now 32 and all ok in perfect. 180 fps, 67 min in Black Death. That'll do for now! Thanks for your help guys Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted December 19, 2013 2. Administrators Posted December 19, 2013 That'll do it

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Quote
