1. DDz Quorum Friar Posted May 8, 2013 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted May 8, 2013 Hi, After a bit of local knowledge... I am getting a new credit card that does not charge for using abroad. Is MasterCard as widely accepted in the USA as Visa? Thanks Friar
delta7
I used this http://www.mytravelcash.com/ you can load it with as much as you want and then use it like a mastercard. This will give you a known limit to spend. When you come home you can withdraw remaining cash from ATM. I had no problem with using it
Snacko
Yes, almost everyplace takes MC or Visa. Other cards are more limited in use, but those two are used everywhere. Where are you going Colin?

BadAim
M/C and Visa are pretty much the same thing. Amex can be problematic sometimes. Have Fun. Then get back to work, you have a lot of people to support.
1. DDz Quorum Pooka Posted May 8, 2013 1. DDz Quorum Share Posted May 8, 2013 Some Credit Cards charge for the exchange rate, I used a Capital One and there was no charge, also let them know the dates it could be used out of country. From July 1st to the 29th of July for example.
T_O_A_D
If ya get a chance Cape Canaveral is worth a look also. Besides the 6 foot rat at Disney, the fish breath Lions at Sea World, and the stainless Delorian at Universal Studio. My Sister lives there, If I was still off work I'd consider a flight down and visit her and share a pint with ya.
Kira
DO NOT go with Discover. I've seen more than a few places (including one where I used to work) that don't take Discover. Their rates for businesses are too high.
Perfesser
Watch that damn mouse in Disney. He had my wallet empty before I could say "make a wish".
