  2. Hi all. I am consolidating the the web site and TS3 server onto the game server to reduce our monthly costs. Everything is now prepared and working in new location, I will be swinging the DNS across during Euro quiet time and, as far as the web site goes, this should be pretty transparent to you all. TS3 *may* be a little more challenging, I cannot test that until I can stop the old server and transfer the license, but am am quite confident it will work!

  3. Well gents, after months of head scratching, software fiddling, driver updating, setting changes, etc, I think I've finally cracked it with my CTD and BSOD issue. Thanks to everyone for chipping in over the past few months with ideas, threads, articles, moral support and welcome ridicule as I've got more and more fudged off. Last Thursday, prompted by Kev's suggestion (cheers!), I ran the rig with the new pair of RAM sticks removed, leaving the original older pair. For those online at the time, you recall it was the first time since the upgrades I had a evening without DCS crash or BSOD. Today, after some testing, it appears that just by switching the locations of the old and new modules, I can run the full 64GB and the crashes are gone. CPUZ shows timings all match and I ran some RAM stress tests without a single error. After putting DCS through its paces in VR, both online and offline, all seems to be well and the smoothest it has been. More importantly, the weird resolution noise / deterioration I've experienced in VR since the upgrade has completely disappeared and I've reset the slices registry entry back to default. Finally, hopefully, I can enjoy my Thursdays again

  6. Attention pilots Gentlemen The enemy have repaired the damaged bridges and supplemented these with pontoons, they have secured their bridgeheads and reinforced them with aa making further attacks futile. This has also freed up their fighter planes which we believe will be used to escort bombers. Their bomber force has been observed moving to forward bases in preparation for strikes against us. We believe that their main targets will be our forward air bases at Asch and Klein Brogel and communication hub of Maastrict. With the prospect of air strikes and the advancing enemy ground troops we have made the decision to withdraw west. The battles have already moved to safer bases in the west and we will use our remaining hurricanes to defend the air space to cover the evacuation of our ground personnel and the civilian population. There will be standing patrols and every remaining airfield will be on high alert to scramble. There will be a briefing update in 3 days time. Next mission is scheduled for Sunday 19th at 21:00 GMT. A detailed breif will be posted on Sunday. Please be on TeamSpeak by 20:45 We will be flying Dogz settings so MODS ON; plane on minimap, icons on, unrestricted loadouts. This is a dogfight and you will start parked next to runway. There are unlimited planes. There is also an airstart base for this mission. Pilots are only allowed to use this if they have been shot down or crashed following a take off from one of the ground start bases. I would ask that during the battle of France that you restrict Hurricane loadout to .303 browning’s and not the cannons available,

  7. Had a good test last night (monday) and it looks like this formula is going to be a winner. The time just flew by (no pun intended) and it was midnight before we realised it. There were a couple of hiccups with performance. It got a bit stuttery at the start when there were lots of objects on the map. I am goin to try and address this by removing items outside the area of operations. There are two contenders for this scenario, the one which we ran last night which is in Syria and one developed by the guy who developed the thing I keep going on about DML, which uses the Caucuses map. The plan is to run the Syria version again on Thursday so the likes of @BluBear , @PapaBear and @delta7 can experience it to give their feed back. @wingflyr played last night and has he along with the other Canadians (plus some antipodeans' ) are already running a campaign and was able to pass on some valuable tips. Thank you. To play you will need the Hercules mod (there is the option to fly in supplies to a newly captured airfield, "its really cool" (as the youff say). You can get the latest version here; https://forum.dcs.world/topic/252075-dcs-super-hercules-mod-by-anubis/#comment-4472291

  8. First thanks for all who turned up, I believe there were 16 flying , which is something we have not seen for a while. This thread is for comments , I believe this will only stay interesting if we work together and ensure any issues are ironed out as much as possible , so please feel free to comment. I am not a mission builder and have only used the quick mission generator, however for this to work I will get the info needed to tweak the missions to suit the majority. My thoughts on the first session; Positives good numbers flying It successfully fulfilled the two main objectives of being fun and everyone working together. Comms was very good Co-operation was very good with people covering each other and not all chasing same target Improvements I will need to make sure there are sufficient planes by making airfields unlimited I will check to make sure there are rearm facilities The secondary and tertiary enemy targets were destroyed by AI, I will remove random flights so that the ground pounders will have alternatives if primary is closed. I am concerned about lack of enemy planes after first wave is engaged, I will look at how to activate a second wave after a period of time so that the fighters have secondary targets later in mission. Questions These are just some ideas, I would need to dig into wither it is possible but would appreciate feedback on this before I put the time in. Do people wish to see a scoreboard ? Do you wish to submit claims and I will keep a running total ? I had doubts about running as a DF as it sometimes leads to carelessness, however I was pleased this did not happen. In future to encourage people to take care of their aircraft/ virtual life do people wish there to be a penalty for being killed , such as voluntary 5 min sit out or an incentive for not being killed such as extra points at mission end on scoreboard.

  9. UPDATE 4TH MAY 2024 Persian Gulf Added ability to load troops (units from 81st Airborne) and JTAC from the Valley FARP (located closer to the hostage town). Added insurgent ground troops attack. Re-instated "boom" retribution but for 3 or more blue on blue kills.

  10. Gentlemen, 14th May 1940 Dark days are upon us. The enemy is advancing on all fronts but the main thrust will be towards Brussels. We must stop the reinforcements from arriving so have called on volunteers for the next mission, the destruction of vital bridges Despite losses , to a man the battle squadrons have stepped forward and it will be our duty to escort them in this task Start mission 21:00 Sunday 5th May Please be on TeamSpeak by 20:45 We will be flying Dogz settings so MODS ON; plane on minimap, icons on, unrestricted loadouts. This is a dogfight and you will start parked next to runway. There are unlimited planes. I would ask that during the battle of France that you restrict Hurricane loadout to .303 browning’s and not the cannons available, bombs at 250lbs if you wish to carry them. I will be using il2mod1941 instead of battles you will be able to fly these if desired but I would ask the loadout to be 250lb bombs not rockets. This mission is inspired by true events On 12 May, a formation of five Battles of 12 Squadron attacked two road bridges over the Albert Canal; four of these aircraft were destroyed while the final aircraft crash-landing upon its return to its base.[31][32] Two Victoria Crosses were awarded posthumously for the action, to Flying Officer Donald Garland and air observer/navigator sergeant Thomas Gray of Battle serial P2204 coded PH-K, for pressing home the attack in spite of the heavy defensive fire.[33] The third crew member, rear gunner Leading Aircraftsman Lawrence Reynolds, did not share the award. Both fighters and flak had proved lethal for the Battles. Although Garland's Battle managed to destroy one span of the bridge, the German army quickly erected a pontoon bridge to replace it.[34]

  12. The 352nd enjoyed flying with the DDs and the mission was fine. I agree that we need to make the airfields with unlimited planes and also repair/refuel capabilities. As I told delta7 Dave, I know he makes the missions with the EMG but I would be willing, after he has made the mission, to change the airfields to unlimited planes and also add the repair/refuel vehicles. He just needs to send me the mission and then after I've made the changes, I send it back to him. I've done something similar with DDFriar when we flew missions against the DDs. We always discussed the missions made between the two of us before we flew them with the rest of our groups. Neither he nor I ever discussed the missions with our members before we flew them. It wouldn't be fair or ethical as we are trying to provide enjoyment to them and not take advantage of intel info. I will canvas my members about a penalty time for dying before reentering the fray.

  13. Success We have given the enemy a bloody nose. All targets were successfully completed with limited casualties. Our victories today will ensure that the enemy wont get all their own way and give our ground troops some relieve. News from other sectors is not so good , the enemy continue to push forward and our battle squadrons took losses. We fly again soon Next round is provisionally Sunday 5th May. I will keep this thread for announcements and have started another for comments/feedback

  14. So every now and then I fire up the old DangerDogz - All welcome CliffsOfDover server ...like today, and then you get this... lol Eighteen silly buggers still having a go at it! I did do a Hurricane mission from Gravesend, climb climb towards 20k ft, nearly popped the radiator - headed east, then south south west over the channel, then east, chasing ... then attacked some enemy bombers that headed north off of Beachy Head, shot down one, damaged another, ran out of ammo, landed back at Gravesend... phew... (That brought back some memories... lol) Really, I was thinkin' of doin' a warm up in the Hurricane in Clod, switch over to Delta's campaign - I got stuck in clod - I'm sorry... shot_20240519_213148.bmp

  15. I'm not sure that mass value actually relates directly to the weight of the ordinance. Most mass values seem to be within the region of lb's divided by between 17 to 22, although there are some serious outliers in the screenshot you posted like TOW's. I suspect its just an arbitrary value the mod creator put in..... I would think just divide the weight in pounds by 20 would do, and keep it in line with the rest of the mod and the weights of the pallets.

  16. I have long been wanting to do something with logistics within DCS. Now that we have the Hercules (and soon hopefully with the same capabilities', the "Hook") I need to know what weapons do we load onto our planes and helicopters. Our primary plane set is pretty set (A10, F5, F14, F15, F16, F18, MC2000, Huey, Apache), obviously I will the add requirements of new modules as they come on line. Would you please all help me to set up the "warehouse" of what we take, I am willing to bet that you all have favourite loadouts for CAP, SEAD, Ground Attack etc and take the same loadouts each time. I need to know what types and the correct name (e.g. Aim-120-B) and nick-name (if applicable for when the Logistics Officer gets shouted at "We NEED MAVERICKS, NOW!"), not just "Sidewinder" for example. I need bombs and missiles / rockets. My intension is to utilize into our missions the standard DCS Resources feature, where I can set the stock levels for equipment and weapons which get depleted each time you load your plane up (and re-stocked if you bring them home unused, the Stores Manager will NOT take in used items), meaning that at some point we will need to re-stock from a Supply Point, otherwise its "No Warheads On Foreheads" for you! I can do the same with fuel but I think that will be "Phase 2". Many thanks for your assistance with this. Friar.

  17. Following last nights frustrations I did a bit of googling and found these solutions 1) remove mods and complete repair 2) remove fxo and metashaders folders 3) remove dcs entries in appdata file 4) replace mods and launch game, once game has loaded ,load map you are going to play in mission editor, once loaded close then go to multiplayer This has got me down to about 6 mins from launching game to sucessfully loaded cockpit and ready to go. Previously it either crashed or took 20 odd mins. Hope this helps others, I will test later for repeatability

  18. Almost there.... The GPU support they sent with the (4070Ti) card is a bit of a joke. I bought something off Amazon, installed it. Didn't like it. Modified it ... still not very good. I had some 2mm aluminum sheet so I made something solid. Final fit before paint.

  19. UPDATE 16th May 2024 Persian Gulf and Syria 10:00 Maps Only Added new function (ready for next week ), Air to Air Training, or any other plane that wants to use it. I have added two new options to the F10 "other" menu. These are for air to air training and give the player the option of shooting at both unarmed or armed Mig-21's Both options will spawn in a set of 4 Mig-21's at 3000m, unlimited fuel and instructions to evade fire. One option has the 4 unarmed, the other has them armed for air to air engagement. Each set of 4 is generated by use of the menu option, so once all of the targets have been eliminated, you can, when ready, hit the option again to start another set of 4. This also means of course that if two players are in the air together, they can, if they wish both trigger a set of 4, or work together against 1, 2 or multiple sets of 4. Both flights (unarmed or armed) will operate in the same air space so if you have armed and unarmed both triggered, make sure you know what you are up against! On the Persian Gulf map they are heading 176 deg (north to south towards the training area north of the airfield and taking up a race track orbit) On the Syria map they are heading East to West heading 253 deg and again taking up a race track orbit north of Incirlik Airbase.

  20. How about once a month we have a DCS Tuesday event for this? We can run it by the rest of the Dogz if need be; hopefully no one would be so intractable as to refuse us one Tuesday every four weeks….
    1 point
  21. @Crash - I can not do Sundays, so "it would be a no from me". A Tuesday could be an option for one of the sessions. The beauty of this campaign is that it saves the position at the end so we could run on different days and any players not being able to make the previous session would be able to pick up the fight at the next stage. I think GBS is picking up some momentum for Sundays so also would not want to detract from that. @DD_Fenrir - we did not do any testing, I just had a chat to Wigflyr about the mission. I have now made a DDZ version with the F15 added plus removed the russian helicopters from blue side. Might be ready for a test on Monday.

  22. You also could use the Expanded Syria Foothold mission which cfrag recommends. It has everything plus you can add any module you need. Players can split up into groups to do various mission in different zones, at the same time working all for the same common goal.

  23. This is all cfrag's work WF, I have just downloaded it. I may need to tweak it a bit for our use, but can not take the credit.

  26. 15th May 1940 Congratulations to all involved in yesterdays operations. All bridges were successfully hit and damaged, slowing the enemy advance. However due to the heavy flak reinforcements we will not be able to return and complete the job. Enemy engineers are repairing the damage and putting up pontoon replacements, as we speak, under cover of fighter protection and flak screens, and we cannot continue to suffer the losses our battle squadrons have incurred. While most of our aircrew returned safely, due in no small part to the excellent co-odination of our aircrew, other groups were not so successful and in particular 12 squadron suffered severe losses. Due to the increase in enemy air activity all squadrons will be on high alert with one section ready to scramble immediately it is required Stand by for further orders.

  30. UPDATE 26TH APRIL 2024 Persian Gulf and Syria Added selection of player flyable Russian helicopters and planes. If you have one that I have not included, please let me know and I will add it. Added extra helicopter sling loads and removed the pipes as available options. (Just realised they are for allies only, I will add some for the Russians later if they can sling load)

  31. UPDATE 21ST APRIL 2024 Persian Gulf Deployed troops from helicopter will now head off in Echelon Right formation rather than one behind the other. This means they now will all engage the enemy, rather than just the man at the front. I will update the Syria map to match in due course. Corrected bug with Southern approach suicide bomber truck not working correctly. If it gets through it will now take out our southern SAM defenses.

  32. Small update - the 352nd have requested that we fly this as a dogfight, so that you can respawn if killed. I have limited experience generating DFS but we will give it a try. We will run this for 1 hour then I will take a note of scores. I would like everyone to try to prioritise staying alive over enemy kills I will review events after mission and see if we need to change anything
