Blairgowrie Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Thanks Chet. I will give them a try. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Installed UP 2.0 to my back up computer and the Swordfish is now ok. Used the same patch as before which suggests it might be in my conf.ini settings. Should be able to find out what caused the purple colour via the process of elimination, which I will do this morning. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Used the conf.ini settings provided by Chet. No change, the purple is still there. I try copying a clean 4.09m from backup computer and then apply the patch and see what happens. Quote
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted February 9, 2010 1. DDz Quorum Posted February 9, 2010 It was a corrupt install of "a clean" 4.09m. Wow. Maybe I should expand CheckMods, so it checks the entire installation, and not just the mod part? Good thing you got it solved BG! Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Yeah thanks FT. I don't give up easily when something bugs me. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted February 10, 2010 2. Administrators Posted February 10, 2010 Well done Jim, glad you got it sorted. Maybe I should expand CheckMods, so it checks the entire installation, and not just the mod part? You mean it doesn't? Jabo Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Flying FT's Taranto coop last night, the damn Purple was back. It has to be the Quote
T_O_A_D Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 BG have you read this? http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/5031088038 Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Yes, I did see it T_O_A_D but I don't think it is a driver issue. I have tried some recent ATI Drivers as well as the Omega ones but the issue remains. Don't feel like buying a new card just for one aeroplane. I'll try a few more things then might just give up. Quote
T_O_A_D Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 your using the ATi 1950 correct? If so I can test on my old machine. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Two X1950 XTX's in Crossfire. Quote
T_O_A_D Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Ok, well I just shared my game folder and played it across the network on this old machine. and it worked perfectly, nothing odd in the swordfish. Its a single 1950pro but I'm pretty sure its has the 7.1 CAT's [attachment=1] Back in the day, Quazi and Coastie siad the 7.1's were the best for these cards, and not to go any newer. I know for a fact the 8.1's looked better, but they killed my fps so I dropped back. I'd sooner think it's a problem with the install of the aircraft in the game though. Or heat/dirty pin in socket, but those usually effect more than one thing. Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 I'll try d/l ing the Torrent again and see if that helps. Quote
1. DDz Quorum Pooka Posted February 10, 2010 1. DDz Quorum Posted February 10, 2010 I'm running a single X1950XTX as you know BG, and haven't had the purple display while flying at the same time. I use the 7.11 drivers like you do, but I do get small purple boxes on occasion, such as the JO main base. Maybe try running one card at a time, perhaps one is going bad. Good Luck, Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 That's not a bad idea Pook. Quote
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted February 10, 2010 1. DDz Quorum Posted February 10, 2010 Well done Jim, glad you got it sorted. Maybe I should expand CheckMods, so it checks the entire installation, and not just the mod part? You mean it doesn't? Jabo No, it does not. Currently, it only checks a limited set of files, ones that are relevant for the mods. But, I might just as well put everything in there. You then could use CheckMods to create an entire installation in an empty folder. (You'd have to be kinda patient though for it to finish) Although, wouldn't that be kinda illegal? And, it'd also mean that some of your custom skins and other custom stuff might go missing... and get replaced. I'll study it a bit more though, it may make some sense in the end... Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Well I think I finally am close to isolating it. I did a complete reinstall, downloaded UP 2.0 again and used the stock conf.ini The Swordfish launched the way Quote
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted February 10, 2010 1. DDz Quorum Posted February 10, 2010 Bet it's somewhere in the [Render_OpenGL] section... Cool... (I just finished tuning the Taranto mission a bit, will send it to you in a minute.) Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Too many differences to be able to pinpoint. Quote
1. DDz Quorum FoolTrottel Posted February 10, 2010 1. DDz Quorum Posted February 10, 2010 Send 'm both over here, I'll make a study of it... and try and think of the most probable ones... Quote
Blairgowrie Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Here they are. [attachment=1] [attachment=2] The first one is the one that creates the purple effect. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted February 11, 2010 2. Administrators Posted February 11, 2010 StringBagCockpit.Purple=1 There's your problem Jim - This should be 0 Quote
2. Administrators fruitbat Posted February 11, 2010 2. Administrators Posted February 11, 2010 i just loaded them both into winmerge to compare them, and it says they're both identical, very strange... Quote
