1. DDz Quorum Sid Posted April 11, 2009 1. DDz Quorum Posted April 11, 2009 I'm trying to get a Mig3 (not Mig3U) skin that looks good but I'm having trouble seperating the layers...ie. wtf do I need to do. Obviously I need some software other than 'Paint'. I've done stuff that puts writing onto downloaded skins but I would like to achieve... An orange (dark, not bright) dirty skin overall as a 'no markings' bmp that will allow the Russian stars when 'markings on' is selected. I'm assuming that the '60' Dogz d/f ing number will appear as usual... Quote
Rico Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Sid, I use a copy of photoshop pirated during my tour in korea. For those who would rather not fly to Korea for their copy of photoshop, I hear that a program called GIMP works very well. Quote
Perfesser Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 GIMP is free and is more capable than this user. I'm sure I saw the layering thing in there. I played with it for a while but the learning curve was overtaken by something else. Quote

Rico Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Sid, if you don't want anything too crazy, post some color samples for what you'd like and I can probably knock it out pretty quick. Quote
Smash Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I use gimp and you don't need any plugins or anything to separate the layers. http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ this helped me a lot http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/gimp-tutorials/511-removing-white-gimp.html This will show you anything you will need to know about gimp http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/forum35-gimp/ Quote
