Gothkrieger Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 That brick wall just before touchdown, could have been interesting if he did not judge that right. Quote
DD_Arthur Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 That is a hell of a bit of flying. The Lake district is no place to have to make an emergency landing. Very, very few large, level fields and plenty of dry stone walls. Quote
2. Administrators Jabo Posted August 3, 2013 2. Administrators Posted August 3, 2013 He's pretty fortunate he wasn't further south and west when the engine problems occured. He's toward the northern end ot the Lake District there (could see Skiddaw and Blencathra in the early minutes) so to the north and east the land flattens out, but finding a big enough field and gettng into it was still a great piece of flying. gec Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 the swing he had just before he hit the ground was scary if i did not know better from the title, i'd be sure he's clipped the wing and died. some good flying and a lot of luck there cheers to the pilot Quote
BadAim Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 What amazes me is the absolutely calm demeanor of the pilot. I suspect that saved him in equal parts with skill and luck. I get a kick out of how he throws down the helmet and starts walking around. I bet he had a shitload of adrenaline to burn off. Quote
