Tonar
PC Gurus, My mother's pc keeps shutting down after boot up. sometime after all the desktop icons appear. When I boot it in safe mode it does not shut down. My question to you is, is there someplace to look within the system to determine what is making it shut down? I do not suspect hardware as all seems well when in safe mode. Thanks for any insight Tonar

DDz Quorum Share Posted July 7, 2013 If all is ok in safe mode perhaps it's worth looking in the startup (Administrative tools, System Configuration) section in the Control Panel - may be an unwanted programme needs disabling. gec
does it goes in normal shutdown procedure or it just looses power? if it's the first one i'd put my bet on virus. for a second one could be several things: - the power supply. in safe mode pc uses less power so the power supply can handle it. - could be the memory modules cause more memory is used in normal startup - mb could also be a suspect - GPU could also be a problem no much help with this answer i'm afraid

Perfesser
Windows has an event viewer. Maybe that will help. Type it in the search box
