  2. 7 hours in traffic today. And if anybody tells me it's the weather I'll hit 'em. It's not snow that's the issue - it's the retards who take their vehicles out in it!

"Two things are infinte, the universe and human stupidity; and I am not so sure about the universe" AE, some people really ought to stay home on snowdays. Driving in snow really needs to be taught. My sympathies Fenrir, its is never to late for a killing spree.

If all the n00b drivers stayed at home, I'd have way more space to go sideways. They always get in the way of my drifts! Bastards! :D

yeah last weekend it took me 2 and a half hours to get home on a journey that lasts only 50 minutes. best part was a guy who slipped way off the road 5 meters away into a field, and was pushing the gas constantly, wanting to get back on the road apparently, and probably being utterly puzzled as to why his wheels were rotating on the spot and not pushing the car out of snow which was high enough to hide half his wheel span in the first place. lol

  3. Landing? Tell me, what is this landing of which you speak...?
  4. Nice work matey, and good fun to make to boot! PS - particularly liking the soundtrack....
  5. Fantastic! I wish I'd been able to record it when it was broadcast; just for the expression on Colin's face when about 10secs airbourne the realisation he's flying a Spitfire hits him - magic! Thanks Nick, look forward to that.

  7. .. and i reap the rewards when he sends me some good stuff like this: http://home.comcast.net/~bzee1a/Edwards09/Edwards09.html Enjoy chaps!
  8. Kev texted me today to announce that he's involuntarily unable to access the web thanks to a nice fat line failure and it looks like repairs have been speculatively estimated to take place Wednesday... yes that's right folks, the very day our same Fruitbat was going to host his much prepared and eagerly anticipated Nine Lives co-op campaign. Bollocks. Needless to say Fruity is one rather pissed off fellow, but I've placated him with optimistic platitudes and pragmatic offerings of it "well, there's a chance it could be fixed in time...." and " there's always next week...." Hoping for the best but expecting the worst, all I can say is I'm gonna keep the date but if it doesn't come around, well damn it, I'll throw up some co-ops myself, so all is not lost.
  9. Thanks Toad, the link at the bottom of the threads is a great idea, shoulda thought of it myself! I'll also post in the server forum.... Thanks for the kind words chaps, just wanted to share the adventure and showcase the power of teamwork that really brings these missions alive. Happy flying all!
  10. We climb in a full power 180 degree turn which pulls us up under their bellies - I ran outta 20mm after that last 109, but the .50s should do fine as long as I concentrate the burst in some sensitive spots.... Which is precisely what happens! Lead is down! I rudder over and slot in behind No. 2, blasting his port engine clean off and causing him to rear up wildly, all engines stopped. He careens through the formation almost collecting No.3 en route! Mayhem, despite the flak damage makes short work of No. 4... He overshoots No. 3 giving me time to slip in behind... And after nearly colliding with both the dismembered wing of the 52 and Mayhem who'd come back in for a closer look, things settle down and the wreckage of the final member of that ill-fated flight of Junkers marks a fiery descent through the early evening sky. A fast cruise back to base and Mayhem lands - before I get a chance to buzz him he respawns, so I give him some of the ol' Fenrir treatment there! After which a prompt turn onto finals then... touchdown! Well, with a slight bounce I confess... And so with engines off, and the Allison's clicking, ticking and popping as they cool, a relieved and not somewhat chuffed Fenrir takes stock. Fantastic mission, thanks to Mayhem for his company and assistance! And thanks to TOAD for hosting an awesome server! Hope you enjoyed reading folks! *Postscript*: Although I didn't see either of the 2 Bf110s I attacked go down, the server awarded me full kills for both. The Focke-Wulf who's wing I blew off but 150m in front of me and who's smoking remains I saw spattered on a forested hill-side? The server awards me a probable! Go figure.... Back to Part 1 if ya like. Thanks for viewing
  11. Without any warning at all a flight of Fw190s roars down int the valley.... And latches straight on to the long suffering Mayhem... I dunno bout you, but I reckon laxative is wholly unnescessary when two Fw's are pumping their entire arsenal at you! I'm trying to engage but the 190s just have too much speed.... As they wingover I'm behind but mushing and can't quite get the shot... They roll in on Mayhem again.. he must be getting fed-up with this by now! He breaks in time as I fight the bucking trembling lightning round to get a guns solution on this aggressive little bastard of an Fw... Almost there! Alas he breaks and forces me to overshoot. Meanwhile Mayhem's miseries multiply as he takes a flak hit that liberally ventilates his port wing... and the fuel tank. The Focke-Wulfs are showing no mercy... The two I'm chasing throw themselves straight into a mountain-side for no reason - perhaps the leader got splashed by friendly AAA or just misjudged his manoeuvre. Either way his wingman - some rookie no doubt with orders to stick to his leader like glue - went straight in after him. Avoiding their fate I swing round, climbing towards Mayhem's fight, the ever present flak clawing at me as I go.... Getting there... Come on! He chops his throttle trying to force me out in front so I barrel-roll attack; it's a brute force affair, my throttles are firewalled and I got a good notch of flap down with lashings of tail heavy elevator trim, as she shudders, rattles and wobbles on the edge of a high speed stall... but I stay behind him... My first burst is wide, my second peppers his rear fuselage and both wings, but my third... The Jerry bails as I watch his crate spin crazily down into the forest below... With no sign of the remaining Fw, I join up with Mayhem and after a quick damage assessment we wander home. But what's this? Mayhem spots 4 contacts in the sun. They are large and as they are flying out from the direction of our lines, I suspect they're Liberators. But no! As we close it's with a shock I realise they're Ju52s! Easy meat! Part 5 here
  12. I again am forced to dive away from the new assailants but then who should magically appear? Mayhem! Thank god! Still outnumbered but got some options now at least! Mind you I've inadvertently pulled the fight right out over the enemy ground targets and a nest of flak guns; as if our situation wasn't difficult enough! I pull a chandelle to come back towards Mayhem so he can maybe cut the turn and close on my pursuers. It kinda works... he's in range - just - of the trailing 109 but the closest guy to me is now even closer.... I dive away and again hug some escarpments and wooded mountain slopes. Meanwhile Mayhem's first victim flick spins down after some good long range shooting and boils up in the forested foothills of the river valley as Mayhem tries to dodge the AAA... Somehow I've shaken my attacker but the tables have suddenly turned and now Mayhem's in trouble and yelling for help. I pop over the top of the escarpment ridge looking frantically for the fight, but I can't locate him or the 109s... As Mayhem dodges I suddenly pick up the tracer fire at my low 10.... ... as mayhem out-flies one of the attacking 109s and it spanks itself into the terrain. Keep dancing buddy, I'm coming! It's not a good setup for a shot but I've gotta do something to try and wipe that 109 off Mayhem so I give the Bastard a squirt at 90+ angle-off and diving from his hi 2 o'clock; I'm surprised how close my shots came... But it's no good, he's not been discouraged at all and hangs grimly on Mayhem's tail. Another climbing chandelle and I reacquire Mayhem and his antagonist... ... and as I pull in Mayhem swings under me; it's gonna be another hi-deflection speculative shot... ..Come on, come on... BINGO! Got the blasted little sod! Don't think I'd pull that shot off again in a hurry! And mayhem watches in relief as a fire breaks out and rapidly spreads along the entire 109 till.... Part 4 here
  13. Looks like the 109s on the tail of a Yak - best see if I can assist... They're pulling into cloud! With my plane shuddering and protesting, I haul her round, desperately trying to keep the trailing 109 aquired... So fixated am I on this 109 ahead I don't see this bastard bouncing me! Lucky for me his shooting's poor, and I - oblivious to him overshooting - set myself up on the 109 ahead... However I get the startle of my life when that overshooting Hun breaks straight across my sight picture at about 50ft range! Man, if only I'd been firing! Composing myself I settle in behind my prey and give him something to think about... .. yet again oblivious to the red-hot stream of lead being projected in my direction by an undetected enemy! Note to self: must clear 6 before firing! But again his aim is poor and I slide in behind the crippled 109 to deliver the final blow... The blighter disintegrates in a tumbling fiery shambles and I nearly collect him on my way through! Note to self 2: Not so close next time! I break right to clear my 6... To discover another 109 bearing down on me! I stuff the nose down but his initial speed keeps him bout 400-500m back and he figures he'll have a crack... I make an untidy and broken spiral dive, through cloud, jinking, skidding and slipping to make myself as uncooperative a target as possible whilst trying desperately to extend, and screaming like a little girl for Mayhem to come find me! Jesus Christ! Leave me alone damn it! Finally, a grass cutting flight down a mountain valley rattles him and he pulls off to gather his wits and wait for me to make a hash of it. It opens up some space and gives me time to accelerate to a good speed and keep ahead. I slalom closely round some S shaped ravines hoping to catch out the trailing 109s.. yes there's two of the buggers now... but they don't fall for it and follow at a reasonable distance. But I'm pulling away all the time and even manage to get a 2000ft/min climb outta the Lightning at 340mph IAS - what a machine! As I clear the mountain tops and the cloud I look behind to find my original aggressors far behind... but unfortunately a 110 and yet another 109 diving in on me from 5 o'clock high! Crap! 14. So, yesterday afternoon I wander into Toads server and find Mayhem online. It's the Slovenia map, he's flying a P-38, I'm flying a P-38.... And so our story begins..... Mayhem (blank default skin) is loaded for mischief, while I'm looking to get some dogfight action. Nevertheless we run in towards the ground targets together... We split up, Mayhem going in and making this little mess with his eggs... Whilst I climb to investigate some high contacts to the west... Mayhems + HVAR = short work of convoy! Those 4 bogeys turn out to be more Lightnings but as I scan the skies to the south I see more bogeys even higher and my gut tells me it's time to get sharp... Sure enough, 109s and 110s, I'm lucky in that the 109s ignore me, their attention focused on a flight of Yaks. I alert Mayhem, who starts climbing out to the engagement area... and as the 110s sweep close overhead, I pull round hard to swing in the number 4's tail. The 109s are firing on the Yaks as I'm pulling nicely in the blind spot of the last 110... My shooting's a little scattered so I'm not getting the best of my guns but I at least manage to smoke him - the rear gunner was still frisky mind you! Looks like he's out of it; rather than bleed off speed to deliver a coup de grace I switch my attention to the next 110.... On the next attack my shooting is tighter and the flames issuing from the 110 make the kill a near certainty... and as my 1st victim descends underneath me I turn my attention to some bogeys ahead... 17. On another note, can I ask humbly for permission for a friend to join us? His names Chris, flies under the callsign Bear - he's not a dog, but a few of you met him at Duxford this year, Fruitbat met him at Shoreham and he flew with us a coupla times many moons ago. He's itching to join us and is practising his Mosquito display as we speak!
  18. I'm in with you on that Nick, tho I assume you mean Mk14? The 16 is the Packard Merlin variant.
  19. I'm well in, gonna be flying a Lightning, P-38, dunno which model yet, gonna decide later. Any chance of an earlier slot as I've got a gig at 9pm?
