  1. Lovely buddy, haven't been down for ages, must stop by on the strength of these snaps.

    One for Fenrir!

Ok, after a bit of internettery this beasty seems to my eyes to be an M35A2.

    One for Fenrir!

Hmmm, this is post WW2; probably post Korea - I know them by a generic name of Reo; there's a lot of these of varying sizes and slightly different bonnet and grill patterns and each made by different companies but essentially they look very similar.
  4. Bugger. Ah well. Probably safer that way. For you i mean... !
  5. Well, looks like I'm going Sunday old bean... forgot which day you said you'd be going, but if it's Sunday we'll have to organise a rendezvous.
  6. Amazing how much can hang on one little question mark iniit?
  7. It's his manner of imparting the information that so impresses; concise without sterility; elegant use of vocabulary without resorting to verbiosity; a touch of dry and slightly wry humour but subtly couched; and of course the tiniest hint of condescension which is nullified by the affable air of a professor addressing his favoured student. He'll either become a professor of history or a Bond villain. I'm leaning towards the latter.
  8. Cheers Nick. I did as you suggested before I reinstalled; this lil bastard of a program blocked cobo fix in safe mode. As it happened I just found this page - wish i'd seen it before I reinstalled! Hey ho. http://www.tech-forums.net/pc/f51/win7-home-security-infection-244187/ Needed that reg key apparently.
  9. So, yet another reinstall of windows after I found my nachine completely hijacked. Ghey. Opened an email from ebay of all things and suddenly this damn malware urging me to install 'Win 7 Anti-Vrus' pops up and suddenly blocks all programs and won't let me even run Windows Security to get rid of it. Short version; i'm effectively locked out of all my programs until I sign up with their highly suspicious Av software for a mere $30. Fuckers. If I discover which POS company write this software I'll hunt em down and burn their place of business to the ground along with any of their sorry ass excuses for human beings who happen to be in the premises at the time. Aaaargh!

  11. I'm giving this one some serious consideration as Vulcan, Thunderbirds and Team Viper, plus the Reds, puts this high on my to see list. http://www.waddingtonairshow.co.uk/display-aircraft Anyone else? Specifically you kentish lads; a lift will be forthcoming!
  12. No worries matey. As I think Jedi pointed out, UP3 uses a whole new set of DLL files for grafix (as i understand it) doing things very differently from the stock and even previously modded versions of the game, I believe in an effort to make the most of some of the eyecandy available - I've noticed lighting and texture changes from between UP3 and even 4.101 ModAct; whilst the UP3 has some excellently smooth frame rates even over stock 4.101, I suspect those DLLs have ramped up the RAM attributed to graphics processes - or something similar - which means you run out of it much quicker, and the big maps, especially now with 'Perfect Map Textures' on as default - I'd prefer that as a selectable in JGSME btw - means we're eating up our RAM allowance quite smartly in UP3. But bear in mind I have absolutley no qualifications to comment on this! Lol!
  13. Tonar, the 90% loading freeze is a RAM and texture issue. Try setting 'TexCompress=2' under the [Render_OpenGL] section in your conf.ini, it worked for Sweper and Painless, might help you too.
  14. This just in from DT on new stuf to be in 4.11:
  15. Rgr that snacko; it's quicker to use the Notepad 'Edit' menu 'Replace' function: anything that says 'ShipPack' to be replaced by 'Ships' - did it on a P-38 Slot campaign and all works lovely now.
  16. Just to keep you guys in the loop, our squads representation on the International SEOW Co-op is, against all odds, going quite well! The Big Week Campaign: February 1944, the targets; aircraft factories in Germany and the Occupied Countries. This involves sorties of 2hrs+, no externals, cockpit on and extra cushions for reduced bum numbness! It's a mix of daylight escorted bombing raids by the USAAF 8th AF in Fortesses, Liberators, Lightnings, Ponies and Jugs and night missions by RAF Bomber Command in Halifaxes and Mossies. Currently, the main protaginists are myself Rox and Jedi, with the latter two distinguishing themselves with 2 kills apiece for no deaths with a highlight being Rox's excellent efforts intercepting a Do217 in his Mossie - at night! I have a solitary kill to my credit - in a P-38, of course! - and a godawful attempt at bombing from a B-24. Didn't hit a shnitzel! However being stuck i the top turret - thanks to a bug when Rox as my rear gunner timed out - and therefore forced to both fly, formate, do the bomb run, and land from this rather awkward position I feel a little better! Sufficed to say perhaps I might have not done so well from the waist gun! We're going to Duisberg tonight, escorting more B-24s, with the escort comprising P-51C, P-47D-22 and the Dogz in the good ole P-38J! Really looking forward to it! The long airtime, no icons and no externals won't be for everyone but I found with all the workload of navigating, watching out for e/a, trying to stay with the bombers, managing your fuel, dodging other friendly escorts and generally just flying the plane, that time passes quite quickly. Plus Jedi can be relied upon to generate conversation at any point, requested or otherwise! If you're curious let me know, at the moment our slots are accounted for but with some availability issues over the passed weeks and the option to ask for more spaces, you could well get in on a mission if you think this might tickle your pickle. Server flies 4.101 modded with HSFX 5.01, with Big Week Modpack. By all means let me know if you wanna try it out. Salute Dogz!
  17. Hi Delta, my IX's were the same; I dug out an old British Reticules mod and that fixed it for the LF IXc but it don't work on the IXe - I'll see if it's about to give you the link when i get more time.
  18. Thanks guys! Quiet family related happenings over the past coupla days, but turning the heat up as the weekend approaches and full on riot possible at the weekend!
  19. Just to add quickly: Slip: If you're in a turn and the nose of your a/c is pointed outside of the path the aircraft is actually flying through the turn then you are slipping. Conversely Skid: If you're in a turn and the nose of your a/c is pointed inside of the path the aircraft is actually flying through the turn then you are skidding. Slipping increases drag and will degrade lift. Skidding does both these things but because you are blanking airflow over the wing on the inside of the turn and pointing the thrust vector down (which causes the turn to tighten inherently and also roll the a/c into the turn) this can easily lead to a spin. It's worth noting that any uncoordinated use of rudder (i.e the nose pointing left or right) in 'straight' flight (i.e no change of heading of the a/c flight path) is termed a sideslip: It can be useful to use a gentle sideslip when approaching to land and realising that you are a bit too high. Sorry if you know this already but if you don't then it's useful terminology to know.
  20. No-one mentioned gyroscopic precession? Gothy, when you pull the nose up or down, you are applying a force to a gyroscope - your propellor. What this results in is an inherent yawing motion, and depending on which way the prop rotates depends on which way the nose will swing. In right handed tractors - Spitfire Mks I, V, IX, Mustangs, P-40s, P47, Bf109, Fw190s, A6M etc - when you pull the nose up the nose will want to swing to the right and in direct proporton as to how hard your pulling back on the stick. The reverse is also true. Shove the nose down and it'll swing to the left. That's why when taking off, it's best not to push the nose down too hard too soon; that swing is exactly the same direction as the torque which is trying to pull you off the runway, so it ain't a good thing to exacerbate it as you can imagine. Left-handed tractors include the Yak series, the Spitfire Mk XII & XIV, Typhoons, Tempests & Beaufighters. Pull the nose up on these a/c and the nose will naturally want to swing the the left. The best way to see this is to try steep level turns at 60-80º angle of bank and without applying rudder input watch how the nose either pulls below the horizon or above depending on which way the turn is and what way your engine is handed. This will show on your slip ball, but it's better to get a feel for each a/c and be able to correct instinctively. Why? The most important affect this has on is gunnery. Unless your sneaking up on an enemy in a clean tail chase or a direct bounce, chances are your turning with your foe to get lead on him - you're probably heaving the stick back and pulling the nose round hard to try and get a guns solution; given what we now now know about gyroscopic precession, as you can imagine your gonna be considerably uncoordinated, skidding or slipping if you're not correcting for the effect. If you can correct for this characteristic without the need to check your turn & slip indicator you'll be doing yourself a favour; your gunnery will improve no end and your takeoffs and landings a liitle easier to boot. You'll also have more control at the limits of your a/c flight envelope because you'll no longer be uncoordinated in these conditions and less likely to stall or spin. Hope this helps buddy!
  21. My sentiments exactly old bean.
  22. Not much improvement alas... Gonna bite the bullet and reformat. However, on a plus: I've got a shiny new copy of Windows 7! I don't feel so bad as a reformat was something i would have had to do to upgrade anyway. Cheers for all your assistance gents!
  23. Finally found out where these buggers are stored!
  24. Hi Nick, thanks muchly, i shall give it go...
  25. Ok, so i ran both Adaware and Malwarebytes and AVG 11 in safe mode, full system scans; the first two caught something but AVG didn't. All seemed to be ok, but know my PC seems to be having trouble shutting down and just 10 mins ago I' lost sound through my onboard sound card. That and Chrome is locking up. Ghey. Thought i'd nailed the lil bastard but now, I ain't so sure. Got a Hijack this logfile:
