  1. I had no idea there was one still fying. I know the tankers were worth their weight in gold in the Gulf war. Love the V bombers.
  2. Man that's awful. BAd enough to lose my dad, dread the day you just had. Reality gets in the way in very unpleasant ways. But we shall still be here, so do your duty sir and whatever else you need to.
  3. Probably one of these technically impossible things that plague me, but this has suddenly come up in two cases; a friend's laptop, and my flashtrak photo viewer. His laptop is about a yr old, and he can recharge the battery, but the wallpower isn't being sent to it. The battery power just gives out pretty quickly as it does in all these things. But then it shuts down. Same thing with my Flash trak, which is a small hand held hard drive computer that can store and display photos and play music files. I got it used a couple of yrs ago, and it ran fine off AC until recently. The battery recharges but when it runs out after 20 or so min, no power anymore. WTF? Is this in hte computers or in the adapters? Or has the Borg take over both of them?
  4. God must have really liked this fella. An ancient tape of the early testing, and the thing comes apart, tossing the pilot into the rotors. The slow mo clearly shows him taking one in the gut. And yeah, I Know I am probably posting too much of htis stuff, but I just had to show u guys this.
  5. I'll install it as soon as I get through writing my thesis on the 4th dimension and it's effect on worm holes. Beebop is getting good at figuring out how to get the warp engines back online and fix the mods. I think he should offer classes and we could all earn an associates degree in this. I have trouble figuring out my damn cell phone. That's one reason I like VP media's static AC skin mod and the ship skin mod. just stick it in the folder and it works.
  6. In both mods and without, no skins ohter than one that looks almost identical with the original. I have the VP media static AC skin mod that changes the default in specified nationality, (which is very similar to the default), but Ive used this for many mos on many planes and not seen any problem with any other planes. No matter what skin I put in it, the IL4 just wont show any more skins, not in the armament page or in the sim. Many of these Ive used before, and Ive also used them for a while after I started using the static AC skin mod, which works great and doesnt change any files etc. I checked many others, including ones Ive changed the default on in the nationality Ive changed it in, and they have no difficulty. I have run out of stuff to check. OH yeah, when Im in the mods, i also have to turn off gunner auto pilot if i go to a gunners seat. this has gotten me killed twice in the pedastal cmpn, as im making a skip bomb run the gun and view skewers to one side. I have checked the controls section, and I see no opton for toggling the gunners. this is both with and without mods.
  7. Holy merde ! Talk about shrapnel. A blasted blade of the wrong type of grass can kill you in that.
  8. What a machine. Gotta be one of the most impressive AC ever built. Looks so damn futuristic. I wasn't even aware the museum was still flying it. They could have easily been upgraded and still be very useful in the current unpleasantness, but in Another few yrs the USAF will be all out of bombers to. Maybe a museum will still fly a B-1 and a 52. I hope none of us have to attack anyone very far away.
  9. oh hell yeah, thanx Zoo. Can't mistake "to the colors" bellowing at the beginning. I appreciate that. Ive got the collectors DVD, and the story of making the movie is almost as good as the movie itself. But I wanted to find just the speech itself. I made my poor grandmother sit with me through two showings of that thing in the DeSoto theatre.....you could do that back then. Just like I had the Battle of Britain a few mos earlier. She just sighed and said "Well.....OK." God bless her. I found the beggining of MacArthur with most of the speech at west point. This stuff just stirs the hell outta me. Wish I coulda worked for one of these guys on their staff in an alternate universe. I guess BG is right....I AM kinda wierd. But so were these guys.
  10. Damn. What a great source.
  11. Yeah, it was kinda tongue in cheek, as satirical as anything Voltaire would write, but has a pretty strong and pretty damn obvious message. I think George s. would be proud. I still can't find the original speech of the movie though, as that's what I was gonna post. They got versions of Gregory Peck's MacArthur speech (hard as hell to spell his name right) at west Point, but they all end too soon - Duty, Honor, country. I can't figure why some guy would go to the trouble of uploading something but cut it off before it's done. Got some of Patton actually speaking on there to. His voice was really nothing like Scott's, but his attitude sure as hell was. "The complacency of fools will destroy them."
  12. VEry nice. That glacier shot is kinda vast looking. Thanx for posting those. About the only place I get to go these days is the bathroom.
  13. If I remember correctly, there was no way to get out of the nose other than crawling thru the tunnel. NO WAY anyone could do that in
  14. Well, I was inspired by the thread showing those gutsy Tommies taking on the Taliban. I've also been watching a bunch of vids of American warriors in combat with those vermin. I posted it in their honor.....well, that and the fact my blood sugar was 59 at the time.
  15. IF I could have done this, I would have. I think George would say EXACTLY this, in fact, I damn well know he would, with alot more cussing.
  16. Great shots despite the difficult lighting. Can see lots of detail...........(and you look like one of those mormon guys I keep seeing on bicycles around here btw). The views are very familiar to me. Interesting that it's an early model wiht the aft turret. 20 yrs ago, I was the semi official photog for the former Air Acres museum at Cartersville Ga. I flew w3iht them to several airshows on their C-47,but I did get one flight on thier Nicely restored B-25J, which had almost everything but the top turret. The tunnel to the nose was definitely a real bitch, but I spent the flight in the waist positions which had replica 50s with enclosed swivel mounts. This is the AC after we returned from Titusville one yr. The markings are totally wrong for a post war bird btw. I had the choice to fly in the 25 and do pix of other museum planes, or fly on them and shoot the 25. Though I would rather have had the 25 shots, I just had to fly on the Mitchell. I'm glad I did. I shot the s-2, C-1, and an SNJ, as well as a Beech C-45 from the open escape hatch in hte back. As we headed back to the field, I crawled into the tail gunners position, and knelt there as there
  17. DITTO DT as usual. I predicted this crap when the US started halving our force levels after the Gulf war. This is amazing. GREat reporting. Two countries at war that don't provide the aircraft or small arms their warriors need. HK and FN have several great designs that need to replace both the M-16 and SAR 80 series. You don't have to clean the ammo to get them to work part time. Damn production of Blackhawks, CHinooks, and Merlins etc is still pathetic. What's up with that .338 sniper rifle? I've not seen that one. Odd wood stock etc. SSG variant? Can you imagine the heat with all that gear? Tommies, GIs, and Jarheads are all tough guys. Where do we find these guys? Almost no cover at all. So much for cutting your force levels by over half. "No more Wars, don't need em." Something else the US and UK have in common, besides some damn fine warriors. My hatred for politicos doubles every day.
  18. BAAAAAAAHHH.................... I am however, a heavily ARMED sheep. Bring on the wolves.
  19. Cool. I miss my dogs pretty bad, but can't have another one until I get stuff straightened out.
  20. Yer hired BA ! I officially appoint you to that post. I am currently deciding on the ciriculum that Law schools would teach; priorities would be a bit different than they are here. Our Constitution would be pretty much the same, but any judge or politico who didn't take it seriously would face.........punishment. Crap like releasing convicted terrorists for the benefit of oil companies would result in being on the wrong end of a short rope......after it was established in court in front of an unbiased judge who was NOT running for re-election. Actually, judges and others in authority in the judicial system would come from a lottery of experienced lawyers appointed when their turn came up for a couple of yrs.
  21. That IS a good question though. I know they left the red out in the Pacific for obvious reasons. Could be some guy just got drunk early in the last century and decided to paint bullseyes on all the newfangled airplanes, or maybe he didn't like officers.
  22. That's priceless. I started to post "CONGRATULATIONS" !
  23. Hell yes BA, that's why a bunch of us are such righties......the older frackers keep seeing the same kinda crap over and over again, with the same kinda idiotic public acceptance. Sheesh. Well, as Voltaire said; "There are some who only employ words for the purpose of disguising their thoughts." I tend to take the Reagan-Goldwater-Curt LeMay approach to such problems. So BP controls British policy. OK, but Im so glad I live in the US where such influence would never occur.
