  1. Thanks Pete, but could you explain why you multiply the 1/2 by the 1/10 for me please?
  2. Last night I was helping my 12 year old daughter revise for a maths test on fractions. We had this question: In a school,

  6. chris, i was just typing you a message when you posted. ref your copy with sp2, will that be ok to use (future updates etc) as i get current version older message and creating as slipstreme looks a little complicated, do-able, but complicated. if i could your version it would be easier i feel cheers colin

  8. Hi Chris, You have previosly very kindly sent me the xp pro and xp home install disks with keys, so I have them. The machine is a HP and I have the operating system cd that came with it. although on the disk it says it should only be used with the restore cd, when i put it in to have a look at its contents, it did come up with the install xp menu. My plan is to re-install from this disk (although its sp1) and then apply sp2 from a the microsoft sp2 cd. The uninstall routine i found via google but here is the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/en-us The most worrying thing about this is the loss of the .msc routines, the only thing I am now starting to think about is that I recently downlaoded regclean and may have accidently when scrolling down the screen clicked on an entry which has caused this problem, but that is not definate. its 09:40 now, i have a couple of other little jobs to do and plan to start the install around 10:30 so hopefully you will reasd this before then if there is any thing i should not be doing..... Cheers Colin.
  9. the machine IS on sp2, i upgraded via the cd, which went on really easily, no problems. this problem is not connected as i did the upgrade quite a while ago.
  10. I was pointed in the direction of www.showmypc.com by a guy at microshaft when looking at my problem in the above post. it is a free service and seems simple for anyone to use. I went to the went site and clicked on the "show my pc" button. this downloaded a simple/quick little program which generated a password/key. there is another option, which i assume the support guy used which was "look at another pc". i had to tell him the key, which i assume he then entered. and hay presto, he was in. i will try and use it from the support side and post back on its ease of use.
  11. My problem in on my machine at work. I had my recent install of Office 2007 go funny on me, decided the only option was un-install and then re-install. Problem 1. I was not able to remove it via the recommended method of add / remove programs in the control panel so had to go through a long winded method which involed registry edits and deletes. Problem 2. I am not able to run any .msc services. i get an error message saying that i either dont have permission (i do/should) or that the mmc is of a later version Problem 3. After going through the uninstall routine I am not able to reinstall. I just get a message that says set up failed to comple and we are sorry for the inconvenience. Question 1 - I think the os may be screwed in some parts. the pc is working fine for everything else. Can i re-install the os over the top of the existing install. Question 2 - I am on sp2 , however the version of the os disk i have which came with the machine is sp1. a guy at microshaft said that it would be ok, do you agree? any other advice welcome Cheers Colin.
  12. sounds like a "Barny" moment, all together now... "I love You, You love me.......... Top marks for a top man.
  13. Jim, The ship will change direction when you plot a waypoint. You used a moving ship. The rotaion with the keypad numbers only works on stationery objects. When you use the ctrl and left click to plot a waypoint from the object, it will re-orientate to that direction. the numberpad keys will not work in this instance. Cheers Colin
  14. Is it true....was it him i saw when checking out who's looking at the forum.....can it really be......will he post here......is our long lost dog really back sniffing around.....

  17. Does anyone know of a free package that would enable me to edit .pdf documents. I have one-off requirement to be able to edit an existing document that is in adobe .pdf format. I am trying to avoid at work spending £250 on a full copy of adobe acrobat The other option is to be able to take the text from a .pdf and put it into a word document Any one got any ideas?
  18. i meant to say about ambient light - i often play with the central room light on, its reflections/lights in line of sight to the camera thats the problem
  19. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! Not Elvis that is my worst nightmare, go to a Chinese restaurant for a nice meal and an Elvis impersonator comes on, its enough to make you puke in your won-ton soup
  20. Salute JP! Just remember to watch out for background light on the tir and you will be fine. I sometimes to a quick check by going into the "view" option and clicking on the "tracking" tab. That should show 3 nice green blobs. If there is background light it will show as red patches. Useful for checking head movement as well. You can see if any of the blobs disapear which will mean that the camera will loose tracking. My weak spot was on looking up. As the top reflector went back the camera lost it. I cured it by raising the height of the camera and had it looking slightly down. It really is amazing when you add a bit of new tecnology to this game how often if makes it like finding it for the first time.
  21. Following on from GK's post about an average Axis SEOW outing, please do yourself a favour and have a look at the following video by the same creator. His Polish story in two parts is also very clever and worth watching.
