  2. a friend has asked my opinion on the saitek wireless joystick. does anyone have any advice on this stick, good or bad please? he is only just getting into flight sim but requires wireless because of the way he has his computer set up, it is more of a media center, i.e computer sits in corner linked to big flat screen tv on the wall. i think he will play a bit (each time he visits my house i show him a bit more of the game) he has a son of 9 who is getting interested as well. all advice / pointers welcome. p.s he picked this one as he had seen it in a large multiple retailer (for uk guys, PC world) Cheers Colin.
  3. This may be old news but i found this information on a web site. to speed up web page retreival 1. in the address bar enter about:network 2. in the "filter" line enter network 3. scroll down to http.pipelining 4. right click and toggle setting to true 5. scroll to pipelining.maxrequests right click and modify the default value from 4 to a larger number, 10 was suggested. I have implemented this change and it does seem to bang the pages up quicker. The Priory accepts no responsibility for information communicated by its representatives
  4. LOL.....Although I think that I may have to send Sister Sarcastica round. She is of Baltic extraction, her mother worked in a tractor factory greaseing nipples. He father was the local organ grinder. She had a very hard childhood, being sent out each day to gather up the navel fluff from the local bath house. She then dried it and used to stuff padded bras which were later exported to India to be sewn up. This brought in very little income and as a result her father threw her out when she was 16. She did plan to marry a boy from the same village but when he was old enough his father sent him away to work in the mongolian noodle mines. This left her all alone. She decided that the only thing for he to do was to pack her bags and head for the city. She was not sure what she was going to do, but knew that she had to do something. Her journey across the country was a rough one, one frought with dangers. She was a pretty girl and was aware of the looks she got when ever she passed a group of men. She got herself a couple of cleaning jobs but they were not enough. She was eaking out an existance. In hind sight it is easy to she how a young girl could be lured into such a devilish trade. It could offer her a much better living, it would put clothes on her back, she would be looked after. The Priory is ever thankful that Frior 43 got to her just before she signed for CNN.

  9. i dont think that it is your hardware jim. i have not noticed the stutters before on club nights, its usually smooth. it may be 4.08 doing something different or a rogue process on my machine. i will have a look tonight at what is running. i have got it down to 26 although i have added that remote connection software. it was disabled in msconfig/startup when i played i think, but again i will check.
  10. nice one greyknight, i see it has not taken you long to pick up on ethos of our motley crew

well done, you wont regret it be prepared to spend quite a bit of time setting it up just right. it is not just plug and go. you can tweak all sorts of settings to get them just as YOU want them, speed of pan, dead zones so you dont have to sit ridgid, position of camera, ambient light settings etc. it comes with all sorts of default profiles. have a look on airwarefare site for the how to set it up guide. its very good. it may well save you some time when it arrives, plus you'll get a feel for what its all about. bit once its done, its done and oh so sweet......
  12. its in the "arming" screen where you set loadouts etc, down at the bottom by convergence and fuel load etc.

i concur with what has been written before. i went for v4 with vector expansion. what that means is that you can (in other games, il2 does not support it) have the camera move in 6 planes of view. i.e you can lean in to zoom in, tilt your head to the side to look round things. bob will have it i believe. i bought the hat to fix the clip on to but have since done away with that by fixing the clip onto my headset with some cable clips and it still works great (and i dont have to wear a hat in doors!) i would say highlander is go for it.
  14. many thanks for the info chaps. i think the trick may be the mp3 441000mkz stero. i will report back when i have had some success.
