  1. I have sent everyone a mission package containing all my training misions. For the older dogs there is a bonus mission called close support- it is a bit longer than the others but I think it is interesting. I will run a (virtual) medal compitition for those that complete this mission- scores will be 100 for every enemy you destroy but -500 for every bomber that fails to return. Mission will end when last german lands or crashes . Ammo will be limited. All claims must be supported by a .ntrk file so make sure you record your flights. If I have missed anyone then please e-mail me and I will send you the package good luck

HARDWARE This is primarily for GB and Euro mates but some good info for USA/Canada mates http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ has a good range of gear to make you drool- check out the forums , very informative. however usually get most of it less expensive here http://www.lowestonweb.com/ or http://www.savastore.com/ I have used all 3 with no problems but make sure you pay for all internet transactions on credit card ( I keep 1 just for this so I can track transactions) and if any problems then contact card company and you usually get money back.
  4. congratulations Beebop- well deserved. I get on very well with Euro_Snoopy, he is a great guy and he has helped me out with my contributions at airwarfare reviews section under my alter ego dieg777-
  5. they key I suppose is to pick your server with care - one that is well run or simply stick to closed co-ops like we have. It is all very sad that people cheat to up their stats- I can sometimes get pretty annoyed when on the dogfight servers with shoulder shooting and kill stealing but thats only cause Im not that good and it takes me a long time to get kills- but Id never resort to cheating. Iv only seen 2 instances where Iv suspected cheating on all the times Iv played on warclouds and UKDED - in both the bandit did a mysterious warp just as I went to fire- the only instance of it all night - couldnt prove anything and it could have been accidental so I left it alone. If I think cheating is going to be prevelent on the major servers then Ill just give them up. Our co-ops are more friendly and Im beginning to edge towards just sticking with the guys I know to fly with anyway- summer is here, the kids are off school and I dont have the hours to do both -so Im going to save myself some aggro that way.

  9. At the weekend I had the chance to do clay pidgeon shooting for the first time . what a hoot it was really enjoyable. I was under the instruction of what turned out to be an ex- RAF member. The shoots were coming towards you ; right to left and then fast left to right I was ok with the first , was over compensating with the right to left and pretty poor with the left to right but managed to nail one. I asked him what he thought and he said that I was good and had a good eye for a beginner and that my problem was that I had a stronger left eye( unusual) and he had had to adjust my aim to compensate for this- in fact he told me to shoot straight at the target going from right to left as althought I thought I was leading correctly I was doing too much and when I shot straight at it I naturally gave it lead ?!? the fast left to right shot was very difficult and it was only when I managed to do a smooth traverse, accellerate through the flight path, fire and maintain the smooth line that I hit. After the lesson I mentioned my interest in WW2 aircraft and that I understood the best shots in WW2 were those that had some previous hunting experience. It was then that he told me about his service, he joined just after the war and was such a good shot that they wanted him to be a gunner in bombers, he didnt fancy this and managed to get out of this and anyway he said they were moving to jets. Unfortunatly the wife and kids were waiting patiently while dad played so I had to leave without following this up more. anyway it was a facinating experience and I hope to do it again sometimes what I picked up was 1) smoothness is critical 2) follow the flight path and accelerate through it and when you fire keep smooth 3) we all have a stronger eye and you have to make mental pictures of lead and use these 4) I got a good natured ticking off for a good snapshot I done- he said that for shooting the best chances for hitting are the smooth tracking shots

  12. UPdate - it seems to be a problem if you run a game in a different resolution from desktop - 1280* 1024 - I have moved all my game resolutions to this setting and the problem seems to have gone away for no w- Im also thinking of investing in a better cooler for the card.

welcome mate - hope to see you soon on line- some background to help you settle in We are more of a fun squad than interested in many rules and regs 1) we play mainly co-ops but occaisonal dogfight nights 2) we do play pacific theatre so make sure you know how to take off from a carrier - wing extend , chocks etc 3) dont worry about landing most of us prefer the fiery route to ground 4) we play cockpit on and have a gentlemans agreement only to use externals for taxying and taking off /landing so the use of F6 is frowned upon 5) if you need any help just shout someone will be along soon to try to help you out 6) if you dont already know of this site then you will find a lot of help and tips on improving at www.airwarfare.com 7) have FUN hope this helps
  14. thanks all - have changed to vanilla cats and seems to be better - so ill stick with these.

  16. Im starting to get graphical glitches When I start any 3d game the load screen goes into like horizontal triangular mozaics. I hit the windows key , CTRL _ALT _DEL and close game then relaunch game and everything is OK. This happens for IL2FB, UT2004 and RED ORCHESTRA - Once in the game I get no problems - so far -and have played for over 2 hrs I even put the black death track on loop for 30 mins with no problems- its only at launch I get this. It started 2 days ago - I cleaned everything and reinstalled a pci blower so I know all my fans are clean and working and the case is as cool as I can get it. After cleaning it ran ok for a day but now its back. the card is an ati 850 . It does not seem to matter what resolutions I have the game at - the monitor is a VP930 running at default resolution and I usually play the game at 1024*768* 32 in excllent settings I dont have heat sensors on card or motherboard so I cant run mbm to get temps, but the ambient temp in the room is warmer the past few days- Scotlands 2 days of Summer. I am running the latest omega drivers based on Cat 6.5 with ATI tray tools and I while I was going through the options in ATI tools the other day I dont believe I changed anything that would cause this. Tonight I am going to revisit ATI tools and check all the options - there is a good guide on here http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_10.html If this doesnt work Ill try the 6.3 version which was stable and as a last resort the new ATI catalyst drivers and I might underclock it to see if this helps If you guys can think of anything Im missing then please post to help out. I m at work so cant post dxdiag but apart from updating omega drivers I havnt made any hardware/software changes recently It stinks of heat problems but I hope its not -
  17. Just ordered this- £8 aint bad http://www.play.com/Games/PC/PROD/3-/87 ... add=877318 got excellent reviews on SIMHQ http://www.simhq.com/_air6/air_210a.html I dont fly offline often but Ian Boys has done sterling work on this sim with maps etc so Ill try this out. sure Quazi has it and he liked it.
  18. I have used a hoover but prefer the hairdrier - or can of compressed air - it seems to get into all the corners better
  19. I started to get graphical glitches when he game was loading- done it with other games too so today I gave the inside of my PC a spring clean - WOW - more dust than a dusty thing covered in dust  I blew it out with a hairdrier set to blow. anyway I seem to be ok now - I hope this has cured it- the card is only 6 months old. anyway it might be a good time for people to check their cooling systems and make sure they are clean and working. when working inside your PC - TAKE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST STATIC- remove power supply and earth yourself before touching anything Yep even in Scotland it gets warm for two days in the year
  20. TThanks guys Ill give it a try
  21. I was bitching about my problem with map loading and stopping- well last night I remembered somthing Rog said about TS display so I stopped using this and have had no probs since - TY ROG Apologies in advance if I get your names wrong on TS guys but Im not going to use this anymore so I might make some mistakes
  22. Found this on my regular trawls of my favoutite sites - well worth reading http://www.virtualpilots.fi/hist/WW2His ... cture.html The finnish air force were among the best led and deadliest fighters in WW2 with tremendous success against the odds and this was from one of their experten
