  1. however if it had been you mate -Im sure I would have had a much shorter mission with nice views of the action from my chute.
  2. nice dazza- is this a new tactic? fly through them and hope they miss you and shoot each other down ? actually Iv never seen the bomber gunners hit their own side - anyone ? there was a tale from the war from one of the B17 crews that Me 109 pilot flew along side them for a few minuites right in the heart of a box - then waved and split Sd away - always took it with a large dose of salt but maybe our Dazza is trying it out
  3. I have started recording tracks of most of my engagements and play them back to see how I fly and Iv picked up many pointers. The main thing is that in a dogfight there is a very thin line between success and failure - for example on Sunday there was a good match up with spits vs Me109 k s , I was flying a spit and never saw one of the bandits close and actually hit me - fortunatly the shot didnt appear to do any damage and I went into a spiral dive and shook him off- I went on to fly and score well in that mission but it could have been so different - anyway this wee tale is just to recommend that you all think about recording tracks if you dont already do so . Oh and Check six !!!!!
  4. thanks- Iv done it before for other pics- the pics above are jpegs but for some reason it has stopped working ?!? - will try again EDIT-got to download to site using filezila in first pic Im firing from long range as the p-38 was running away from me slightly and I couldnt close - managed to hit engine with this shot and then closed and finished it off
  5. Hi mate- you will need to uninstall your existing copy - either through windows add remove or via the cd, then you will be able to install the new version. if you want to keep your old folders for campaigns , skins etc then copy the entire il2fb folder to another directory or better still another partition and name it something like il2backup. for good info on installing/uninstalling, multiple installs and trouble shooting see here http://www.airwarfare.com/guides/patching.htm good luck
  6. I like variety and appreciate the work that people put into the missions to make them different or more playable so please keep tinkering away
  7. hope so Ill be there on the Sunday if anyone else is
  8. check your conf file in your main folder it should have this section [HotKey game] PrintScreen=ScreenShot P=pause Pause=pause if not add the first line above for full details on conf file see my guide here http://www.airwarfare.com/guides/config_guide.htm
  9. The carrier pidgeon has just dropped off your e-mail with track - takes time for things to arrive in the old country-thanks Ill watch it later. A confirmed leader in the clubhouse - all destroyed in around 45 mins good thinking using the accelerated time to get hurricane into position and some excellent shooting

  11. Do you have a time and track mate ?
  12. Pooka Fsautostart baisically automatically shuts down some services. you can choose to do this yourself by following this guide http://majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=12 As for programs - you can usually disable them from launching on startup by either right clicking the icon of the program in the box next to the clock and looking for properties and looking for an option to disable or type msconfig in run box and look in startup tab see explination here http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/ there is also a program called enditall which does the same thing as fsautostart so you could try this but it is shareware now. http://www.docsdownloads.com/enditall-1.htm or here http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,697,00.asp you could also check out my article here for some tips http://www.airwarfare.com/guides/il2opt ... _guide.htm One word of warning- before tweaking back up your system !!!!!!!! make sure you only disable those programs and services that you know are not important - do not disable your firewall or antivirus if you are online good luck
  13. when playtesting I got them all with the spit and the hawk (p-40) - the spit was too easy with the cannon. I got 3 or 4 with the hurricane so should be possible to get all 8. The secret I found was to cull them out of the herd. Just get them leaking fuel or smoking on a pass and break and move onto next bandit and repeat. It will take a few passes on each plane. I have never been able to bring one of those SOBs down in a single run. If it aint possible with the huricane then Ill take the fastest time with the hawk as I know this is definatly possible. but Im sure you can do it with the hurricane psycho I like jensenparks suggestion so a second medel for the most downed on LIMITED ammo with the spitfire
  14. Hmmm, interesting.....ehrm......I mean, what kind of loser would use that? That's a heinous cheat, that I didn't know about, and therefore must try out just to prove how terrible it is! :x I didnt know about it either until I flew on UKDED  - In fact I flew on UKDED1 for about a month before I realised they had wonder women and externals enabled- coouldnt work out how some were pulling off the crazy deflection shots  - anyway I dont play there now , just warclouds and UKded2. So even tho they allow externals I like the guys on UKDED2- most fly pit on and the cracks good there, and I get better pings than US servers. but if you use F6 in co-ops Iv heard that the Rightious Fairey of Fair Play will come along and remove yer reproductive gear :dmage:
  15. F6 switches to externals and padlocks the nearest enemy aircraft F7 switches to externals and padlocks the nearest enemy ground target I dislike the use of these as much as wonder-woman on servers- as on some servers people use F6 as a radar- you can never bnz or sneak on them as they see you coming for miles, unfortunatly you cant fly with externals on and disable these so we are stuck with them. I think externals are ok for co-ops, to view action once you have been shot down or for takeoffs but I have always flown closed pit as it gives me the most immersion.
  16. I hav ee-mailed the latest mission to you all - anyone who didnt get it please e-mail me and I will send out a copy - hope you enjoy this A wee taster
  17. Hi mate - i have just seen that you tried to page me on hyperlobby a while ago- I didnt see this before so thats why I didnt reply mate- dont really know much about pager etc - only use HL to get onto warclouds of ukded2 - anyway sorry mate

Its best to think of it as taking an exact image of what you want to copy - e.g. drive or partition. and storing this on another drive or partition or disc. It copies the binery data so is much deeper than just windows copy command. If you want to format because your machine is slow and registry is clogged up then there is no point in doing a ghost image and then formatting and then reinstalling this image after the format cause all the old shit would be back in place-exactly as before. It is also no use storing the image on a drive or partition that you format as it will be lost in the format so yes you need to store it on a seperate drive or partition or disc. where it scores is that you take a ghost image when you are happy you have a fast stable system and then install this image after a format to save you a heck of a lot of time reinstalling windows and service packs and up to date drivers and all your programs and patches and so gets you quickly back to a clean uncluttered system now it is up to you when you take your ghost image or images. Some like to take one just after installing windows+ service packs+ drivers and some like to do it once they have added their standard programs such as antivirus +office and photoshop etc. and some backup retentives ( ahem ) have 2 or 3 images stored on discs ready to use should something go wrong with windows or their hard drive. so its a safety factor to protect your programs or data from loss or a time saver if you have something go wrong and you have to reinstall. hope this helps

  24. Here are my favourite 3 books - reviews copied from my posts at airwarfare 1) Book : First Light Author : Geoffrey Wellum Pages : 338 Photos : 39 Published : 2002 This is my favourite biography of an RAF pilot in WW2. It describes Geoffrey Wellum’s career from his induction at seventeen, through his training, his active service of two full tours; including the Battle of Britain, over 100 fighter sweeps over France and then Malta. The story is different, from the usual pilots profiled, in that Geoffrey was not an ace , although he is obviously a good pilot, being chosen as wingman by Brian Kingcombe his No 92 squadron CO. So the book is not full of kills but does describe very well the thoughts and fears of a pilot. The first third of the book concentrates on his training and his fears that he will not be good enough to make the grade, it is 100 pages in before he flies a spitfire, but his descriptions of his training and flying are interesting and informative; throughout the book you sense his feelings of joy and sometimes terror in flight. The rest of the book deals with his missions, including one thrilling chase of a Ju88 in near zero visability, and the pilots he met and flew with. His writing style is fluid and easy and I guarantee that most will not put it down once they start. I got a real feeling of understanding and of almost being there with him during reading this book. I really recommend that anyone interested in pilot stories from this period should pick up a copy. 2) Book The Big Show Author : Pierre Clostermann Pages : 345 Photos : 34 Published : 1951; new unabridged version 2004 This is arguably the best biography and story of a pilot in WW2. Pierre Clostermann balances narration and description to give a full insight into this period , the pilots, aircraft and missions they flew. With such an action packed career it takes only 28 pages to arrive at Biggin Hill ,just after the Battle of Britain, and from then on Pierre Closterman takes the reader through the highs and lows of fighter sweeps over France in Spitfires and then ground support missions in Tempests. In all nearly 400 missions including over 30 kills. Pierre faithfully kept a diary throughout his career and the book has an intimacy that really grabs the reader. He was studying for a degree in aeronautical engineering in America when war broke out and so is able to bring a fine engineering and analytical viewpoint to the aircraft he flew, and fought, however at no time does this get dry or boring; rather it offers added insight into his story. This book really opened my eyes to the scale of loss of RAF pilots at the latter part of the war who flew Typhoons and Tempests in ground support missions and against the remaining pilots in the Luftwaffe. And especially to the bravery and courage all pilots must have had to show in the face of continuing losses and death of comrades. A well balanced viewpoint and strong narration makes this a strong recommendation. 3) Book: Alert In The West (I Fought You From the Skies) Author : Willi Heilmann Pages : 159 Photos: 16 Published 1955 I had never heard of Willi Heilmann, but picked up this book after reading Stigler’s recommendation from here http://www.naysayers.com/9jg52/9jg52.html and I am very glad I did. When it arrived I was disappointed- only 159 pages? But these are packed with aerial combat. The book covers a relatively short time period, from just after the Normandy Invasion until the end of the war, and, giving little background, plunges you straight into the pilot’s experiences flying with JG54 in FW190s; first in the A series and then the D9 variations. The majority of the book is his descriptions of aerial combat, and tells the grim story of fighting, retreating and loss as an army degenerates in defeat. The action and pace is driven and relentless. The author has strong opinions on his machine, how it matches up to his opponents and on the pilot’s fate as the experienced fliers are lost to be replaced increasingly with those straight out of training. His views and experiences flying FW190s make an interesting comparison with some views expressed on the IL2 forums … .but I wont spoil this for you- go and buy the book and find out for yourself.!! I don’t think you will be disappointed.
