  1. P-47G Thunderbolt 'Snafu' (Farewell appearance) - Jabo B-17G Fliegening Fortress 'Sally B' - FT Just need an appropriate skin for the Fort now
  2. Y'know what FT? I might just cut your wing off after all. You very funny man. More seriously, could I suggest that the Dogzford map go up on the dogfight server for practices and suchlike? Jabo EDIT - Could we also have some clarification on the date please Colin - I can do the 3rd but not the 6th so don't want to leave my erstwhile wingman in the lurch.
  3. Happy birthday fellas. Hope you had a good one! Jabo
  4. I dunno FT, with my...erm...questionable gunnery, I'd be more likely to cut your wing off than take an engine out. Perhaps you should just stop and feather one engine. I think correct one would be the port inboard.
  5. Lol. Actually this lot are better organised than the other rabble.
  6. hmm, dc-3 pair with cargo and para drop, p-47 and b-17 pair??? Decisions, decisions. Actually, snafu for me! Anyone want to fly sally-b?
  7. Damn Todd, you broke the code!
  8. Wow, that's worth watching the whole thing from start to finish - Thanks for posting this up Arthur. I feel a pre-order coming on!
  9. It's a regular occurence Snacko. There's invariably a toast to Jim and other absent friends too.
  10. Definitely not his time to go though.

    No Audio

In computing terms, HDMI does not (usually) carry audio and video together, it's normally video only. My computer refers to Realtek High Definition audio devices as well, but it's still connecting via the normal speaker outputs. My headset connects via USB. You might also check the volume mixer (right-click the speaker option (in the system tray) and see if the TS volume is right down (see the example below where all my applications are muted but equally you could set different thresholds for different applications). I have LOTS of problems with this, but generally that everything is too loud. Jabo
  12. Following extensive repairs following it's belly landing at Duxford a few years back, the Blenheim was rolled out (sort of) last week! Not sure about the Mk1 'greenhouse' nose, but it's the right one for the aircraft so... Obviously there is still quite a bit of work to be done, but the signs are good for a return to flight later this year! Congrats to all involved. Jabo P.S. Ignore the markings, she's been involved in some filming at DX recently. I am reliably informed that there are RAF roundels under the vinyls.
  13. Oh yes, certainly the occasional glass of the black stuff may have been downed that night. Thanks Friar for the update.
  14. Good point Bongo, plus, if she sits around for much longer the restoration will need restoring. Hopefully the ongoing enquiries in Oz and NZ will turn something up. Jabo
  15. serves me right for not watching the last 30 seconds! Hope that leak is nothing too serious. Jabo

    Switchbox Mk.3

Nearly there now, just need to cut down the shafts on the trim pots so the knobs fit properly (break out the dremel for that I think) and we're there. Unfortunately I had to change the switch supplier halfway through and the new ones are slightly different. Meh. For those that are interested, the dimensions of the box are 195 x 110 x 60mm Jabo
  17. Lovely, thanks Pup. Jabo
  18. I've gone a step further and moved my entire users folder to a separate physical drive along with c:\programdata. This has the advantage that none of your user data is on the boot drive (in case of reinstallitis) and Windows (7) doesn't bat an eyelid - It's a little involved but to my mind, worth the extra effort - The methodology is documented here. This means that my SSD RAID is now used only for Windows, various software packages and IL-2 (Maximum throughput of those two drives combined is 1.2GB/s (2x600MB/s)- I might have had a slightly geeky few months - sooner or later though something will go bang and I'll have ones and zeroes everywhere - ) whereas all my data is safely squirrelled away locally and on two external backups. 19. He's pretty fortunate he wasn't further south and west when the engine problems occured. He's toward the northern end ot the Lake District there (could see Skiddaw and Blencathra in the early minutes) so to the north and east the land flattens out, but finding a big enough field and gettng into it was still a great piece of flying. 20. Confirmed on the TFC website - Snafu is being dismantled for transportation, although whether or not this is for good is still not known. Edit: As of this weekend, there is a large P-47G-shaped hole in Hangar 2 North. Assuming she's not been buried somewhere on the airfield then I think it's safe to assume that 'Snafu' is on her way back across the pond. Look after her guys! Jabo
  21. As I understand it Bongo, the problem is due to the fact that the nacelles, engine mounts and plumbing are/were designed specifically for the early Herc which precludes them being re-engined with something from P&W for example without major rework. It also means that late model Hercs (from, for example, a Hastings) cannot be used either. That said, there are photos around showing Beaufighters with merlins! Mark II's I think

    Switchbox Mk.3

In this case Chet, I'm using 360 deg pots with a centre detent to identify the mid point. Bear in mind that that's giving me 512 steps either side of the mid point
  23. Not rising to that Chris! Apparently though there are early model herc engines starting to surface in aus and nz and I understand that tfc are making enquiries in that area
  24. You and I might fall out about the Beaufighter Chris! Sell it indeed. Humph. Much as it wood (lol) be nice to see a Mossie back in UK skies, the Beau is a much rarer proposition overshadowed as it was by the Mosquito (in the ETO anyway). Jabo
  25. I see from some of the aviation forums that P-51C "Princess Elizabeth" has been containerised for her trip home to the US so it looks like she won't be staying after all...Worse still is that P-47G (known to all as 'Snafu') also looks to be in the early stages of being dismanted for departure as she is rumoured to have been sold and will be heading overseas. It should be added though that this may just be part of an exchange visit the first part of which bought the Mustang here from the US earlier this year. Conjecture and supposition is rife... On a more positive note and much as I would hate to see Snafu depart, this would leave (lots) more space in TFC's hangars for restoration to re-start in earnest on the Sea Fury (don't forget they have both a two-seat and a single-seat variants) and also the CR42 (which is unique) plus the Hellcat to come back on stream too. Other rumours are also surfacing about potential new acquisitions for the company (all highly speculative) - there are some very interesting aircraft coming up for sale right now, for example there is a certain Mosquito and a 'proper' BF-109 ('E' I think) amongst a significant number of others. Bear in mind that with Stephen Gray no longer involved in display flying, the bar on multi-engined aircraft in the collection may well be lifted - you never know! Jabo
