  2. All the best people born in Novemeber! Hope you have a good one m8 Regards from all at the Priory
  3. Actually his timing is perfect..over at the Priory we are just drawing up a list of how many migrants people will be willing to take. How many can I put you down for Kelly?
  4. Hi Kelly, Great to see you back on the forums..look forward to chatting soon.
  5. Was there a graphics card.........
  6. That is interesting Arthur...... Was it a complicated process and what did you go from and to? Did you have to buy more memory? The perfformance would be nice for the racing sim, and when, eventually I get to CLOD.....
  7. Hello To improve the performance of my machine I am thinking of replacing my CPU. The mother board is an Asus P5N-D (BIOS version 1401) with currently an Intel Duo Core running 3.33ghz I am think of getting a quad core (Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650) running at 3.00ghz 12mb L2 cache The board seems to support this change but is it worth it? (The cpu's only seem to be on ebay etc - seen one for £65 and thinking of taking a punt) As always I trust and respect the advice from those that know............ Salute Friar
  8. Ok so I have successfully updated the BIOS and seems to be going well... Now my next question....please see new thread (thought it made sense)
  9. The BIOS update seems straight forward as it can be done from windows although I started the process tonight but backed out due to a warning message... "Warning, the date of the BIOS image is later than current one, please flash the BIOS using ASUS DOS utility if you still want to do this" So I guess it is saying that I can not use the windows utility it has to be done at a lower level?
  10. Just checked event viewer for system activity and I have been getting a lot of event Id 12's "The platform firmware has corrupted memory across the previous system power transition. Please check for updated firmware for your system." Did a bit of checking and this does resemble my issues. We do let the machine go to sleep a lot and we do get BSOD. Hmmm......
  11. thanks chaps...and hay Brando...good to see you are still out there and looking at the boards....salute I have been thinking about re-formatting ........Hmmmmmmm I am currently doing a backup. The drive is getting on the snug side (70gb free of 465gb) I have just done a defrag and it made 5 passes.
  12. Hello, My PC is becoming a real Pain the Ass. 1. Real slow to boot - often giving up during the boot process and turning off. Pressing the power button again usually gets it to boot 2. System during boot often wants to run CHKDSK, which I let it, but still will want to do it again perhaps a week later 3. I have run a deep antivirus scan just in case and although a few things were found these were more adware than virus. So I am thinking that by upgrading to Windows 10 the os will be updated and also the boot routines to hopefully clear out my problems? I have been watching Slickers thread and Saitek seem to be ok now Logitech for my steering wheel seems to be no problem What about TrackIR? - I run version 5 - anyone having issues with that? Any advice / pointers welcome before I decide to take the plunge System Specs Windows 7 Pro SP1 Intel core Duo CP E8600 @3.33GHZ 8 gb OF MEMORY 64 BIT Nvidia Geforce GTX 580
  13. Best wishes from all at the Priory, hope you have/had a great day (depending on when you read this!)
  14. Made I chuckle as well Alex has advised me to pass on the tip to watch out for bird fly which live on pigeons and can bite humans
  15. Can not help much on the pc front other than what you have been advised but for the pidgeon.....if you can catch it and read the ring you should be able to identify the owner from the National Assoc of Racing Pidgeons. Back at the Priory we keep a few for when the internet goes down. We have a collection from "Ummerzon" for those who are undersided what to buy, "SelfieBook" for people who only talk to themselves and "E-by-GumBay" for all things Yorkshire. We strap the order to the legs and off they go.

Just wanted to announce that my youngest, Heather had news today that her exam results have earned her place at the University of Winchester to study to become a Primary School Teacher.
  20. What laptop would you buy for your daughter going off to university? Dell? 15" screen will be doing lots of course work (going to be a primary school teacher so not too heavy on the graphics front), and watching the odd dvd 4-8gb of memory 500gb+ storage? my issue is processor - i3? i4? i guesss quad core (would like to build in some future proofing) I lay myself before the great and the good for advice Salute Friar

  23. lol ! PS. where has our laughing dog gone?
  24. I was just going to ask what we thought about this over windows 7 and if I should go for it.......
  25. Perhaps you guys would like to join us on Sunday evening (we use Teamspeak) for an opening dogfight map which we use to get everyone togther (it is useuall kill or be killed, and not always the other side!), then we move to move structured (cough!) co-ops run from our vast catagogue. These we can either fly all the same side against ai or people pick to fly either blue or red. We also have the option of spliting comms channel to "spice it up a bit". The whole night on a Sunday is built around having a good time. We sometimes run long missions put togther by our Lead Mission Builder FoolThrottle (FT) or myself. Although sadly due to my work with the Prior of St Oleg, these have been few and far between lately. These often invole a closer element of team work and concentration. I am sure I can speak for the rst of the group in saying we hope this to be fruitful hook up for both sides. Salute Friar
