Friar replied to Crash's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
@Arthur is your game that dark? I did stay above the clouds where it was lighter but would it make that difference? -

Hello, Don't know if I am late to the party on this but I found this video this morning where you can set the default starting head position for when flying in VR on a plane by plane basis. I have just made a few changes and it is great! Where as before I was looking down on the seat back, I can now start where if I look around, it feels like I am in the seat! (the seat back is aligned to my shoulder).

For my part.. The Bad... I must apologise for letting Sid down by not covering is back. This was due to me not getting close enough from take off and then due to the icons not being able to locate him when we broke to engage the enemy. I also reported an issue of not being able to bring my map up. I should have been more precise. It was my mini-map that I could not engage, I did not try the big map. When I moved myself back to the main forum I mentioned this to Arthur and he informed me that he believed that no one can use the mini map in this scenario? So I should be able to work round that for next time. Separate communication channels may reduce the noise but would then become an issue if the numbers in flights get reduced due to deaths etc and pilots are asked to join up with another wing. Flying in VR I don't think I would be able to map keys for whispers etc. A lot of the chatter was caused by people not understanding the plane so hopefully that will go next time. The Good Great atmosphere created by Fen and immersion. The missions I feel are going to require me to up my game, which will always be a good thing. I got home safely and landed -
@Jabo - what was it about herding cats...... 😁

Just added my name - I could do 1 hour missions on a Sunday (providing we start at a reasonable time). Sounds like it will take our flying up a level. -
Salute guys,Had an idea today for something different on a BoX night. How about we have a competition. I will create a map. On the map will be a number of airfields. At each airfield there will be a letter and a number of ground targets, some easier to hit than others but all the same at each airfield. We all spawn at the same airfield to start. The dogfight map would be set to run for say 1 hour only. Players can take which ever route round the airfields they want. Players can take their own choice of plane. Players could fly as a team in a bomber (but straffing only allowed, no bombs) edit: can you multi seat on a dogfight map? Players have to fly to each airfield, spot the letter and kill 1 (one only) of the ground targets. when you have all the letters they make a word. Poke the word to me over Teamspeak. Points awarded for getting the word and for killing each ground target. Points will be lost for killing too many targerts at each airfield. What do we think? isolation has got to me or a fun change? cheers Friar

My thoughts on an equal level of playing for all of us
Friar replied to Sid's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
at point 1 Ahmen to that brother I fly last night and shot down 3 of the enemy planes, a good tally for me. Perhaps I had a lot of rage to get ride of from a bad day at work. But VR settings are sorting themselves out now and getting used to flying model all helps. -

Thanks to Jabo last night I am now sorted with JGMSE and a ickle dot above the planes. I also have no other planes on my map (done it without a mod) so must have over written one of map files perhaps? anyway, however I did it, it does what I want. -

I dont have a MODS folder or JGMSE - could some nice fellow point me in the right direction. I have found the post with the icon modding files but have no where to put them? -

I try and spec my headset up for the eye candy and often do not spot the icons before others using a monitor -

I can't say I have noticed people being singled out - its usually me getting shot down early because i have put myself in a position making me a target. I would support not having names (@painless - I did not know it was you until I got really close after spotting your icon - I had height and chased a red dot down). I may not have spotted you if not for the icon it has to be said. I would support doing away with icons above planes, as Sid says it does give the game away. I would plead for my plane only on the maps as I am useless at navigation. To this end I am going to do what is required from my part to remove in-game icons, but it does need all of us to buy into it. (that is the buy in without spending money of course) -
What they all said, plus the Sisters have missed you......

Well, Well, Salute Sir. If you can find time from taking the Canadian political system by force then you will need to pick up the IL2 Great Battles series. We do not fly IL2 1946 any more. Get it from https://il2sturmovik.com/ It is more pay to fly with DLC content than 46' If you pick up the "premium" versions of the releases it works out as best value. Cheers Friar

Mission Builder Issue with Screen Layout
Friar replied to Friar's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series
Bingo! - Thanks FT - that has sorted it. I posted in the GBS forum so I will post your solution in there as well. Cheers Friar -
Hello, I was working on building missions yesterday, all good. This morning when I try and open my map the properties box has located itself in the very top left hand corner of the screen (see picture below) I can not drag it. I have closing the application and re-opening. I have tried re-sizing the screen and putting it back. When I click on an object to set its properties I am losing most of the box so I can not get at the settings? Any ideas? The picture attached is a snipit from the very top left of my screen
