  1. Since we're doing some rather wild speculation on some pics and info that doors open, I'll do some speculaiton too. I'm cautiously optimistic about the update, and happy about this small detail because it confirms a level of complexity that the previous pictures and information released has hinted at. The aircraft in BoB, and in particular the damage model, are going to be far less generic than they have in the past. Look at the pictures of the Hurricane and Mess models released, the first thing I noticed was that every spar, longeron, and system was depicted and depicted in a different colour. If they are modelling the INTERNALS of the aircraft, it's for a reason... I'm looking forward to hydraulic gear that droop down when the oleo is hit and oil is leaking out, electrical systems that go down when the battery is destroyed etc... and I see the "useless doors that open" as only one aspect of this. So I'm cautiously optimistic as I see this detail as confirming my hopes in this respect.

  3. GODDAMN!!!! If that's not a hoax (or a haxxor thing that'll f#$% my installation) I WANT it... the Merlin sound frigging awesome! Off to check out the BMW- Edit: it seems this was done with a hack alright (see SimHQ threads) but damn if it aint cool- and the BMW sounds really awesome as well... what a bummer that this change will, in all likelihood, never make it into the "final" Il2 patch. Excellent mod. Edit #2- seems this is somewhat old news... been out of the loop- thanks for the links JP

  5. Too many gorgeous details to hide, in my opinion... if it were me I'd have it undergoing maintenance and re-arming. Is there any way of having your cake and eating it with removable/reattachable panels, or does it have those tabs that won't allow for it? Looks GREAT so far. You've got a steady hand.

  7. Well said. RIP and S!
  8. I like this one- found on the B-17 entry for Wikipedia: Are those cool propwash-cut contrails or what?
  9. Nice find (that P51 with the cowling off has been added to the HDD) I've seen some of these before but this one is new to me and I like it especially: Though I suspect it's been staged as well, given that the poster on the wall.
  10. Hint: the workers are the ones who installed the metal black pylon-things... in concrete
  11. That was indeed "damn interesting". Thanks GK first I've heard of the site-
  12. VERY nice! Looking forward to the progress pics.
  13. If I had the space to put it, and the time to make it I'd try making one of these: http://www.acesim.com/main.html out of PVC tubing. Nice, simple, logical design.
  14. Thanks Okie and Greenstreaks!
  15. It will only be possible (if it is at all possible) on one of the newer macs with an Intel CPU... On the older Macs it definitely will NOT work. Otherwise try what BBloke said. Having said that, if he has ~ US$500 burning a hole in his pocket, he should be able to get a basic computer + vid card which would enable him to play online... just not at very high eye-candy. I'm running an AMD XP2500+, ATI X850pro, A7N8X (with SoundStorm chip) and 1 gig of DDR 3200, which is long in the tooth but I'm still able to run all my eye candy option to the max (but not in "perfect", of course), and I'm fine in 90% of online time. Just a thought.
  16. This is my first attempt at camo or model building at all since at least 20 years ago. The airbrush I'm using is a $20.00 Coleman Powermate running off of a can of compressed air. It's actually quite adjustable & does a pretty good job. Hey Greenstreaks- I've googled that but only come up with really expensive Coleman generators... do you have a link to the product, or perhaps a quick picture to let me know what to look for at a hardware or hobby store? That's way more reasonable than the 200$ they're asking for an airbrush without the (200$) compressor at the hobby shop around the corner... Cheers, C_G
  17. Very nice
  18. LOL! Me too
  19. Actually... (to link it by the most feeble of threads to IL2) I think a FW190 did it. By which I mean a Butcher Bird did it: "Butcherbirds are insect eaters for the most part, but will also feed on small lizards and other meat. They get their name from their habit of hanging captured prey on a thorn, tree fork, or crevice. This "larder" is used to support the victim while it is being eaten, to store prey for later consumption, or to attract mates."
