delta7
One of the worst things for me in this sim is my difficulty in spotting dots and aircraft against the ground. It is ok on desert maps or winter maps but some others really Piss me off. So Id like you all to help be offering tips and to post your graphics settings under the following headings- Thanks in advance the only thing I cant change is my card and resolution which is 1280 x 1024, because if I change this it causes graphical glitches and crashes. GRAPHICS CARD= DRIVERS DISPLAY PROPERTIES RESOLUTION= AA

Blairgowrie
Well said Deacon. It is sometimes hard to figure out where "realism" stops being fun. I tried out some new icon settings yesterday and got a sense that some of you didn't like them or found them difficult to interpret. Any thoughts you would care to post m8s? Shadow
Well said Deacon. It is sometimes hard to figure out where "realism" stops being fun. I tried out some new icon settings yesterday and got a sense that some of you didn't like them or found them difficult to interpret. Any thoughts you would care to post m8s? Here's what I like and I think a fair compromise as well. Friendly icons only and black only.
Shadow
One of the worst things for me in this sim is my difficulty in spotting dots and aircraft against the ground. It is ok on desert maps or winter maps but some others really Piss me off. So Id like you all to help be offering tips - Thanks in advance I just park a 24" high res wide screen monitor a foot from my face and I have no problem finding the dots
DZ9
To be honest BG i didnt like them i have a fairly crap monitor and i get tired eyes squinting about for a dot. i know its possibly fairer, but its dampens the fun for me. id rather concentrate on flying and fighting than squinting at the screen
delta7
excellent sentiments deacon and I fully agree with these. I also think that you need icons for friend and foe, I have gotten used to the warclouds settings where both sides are black and friendly have pilot name whereas enemy just have plane type. I liked the settings

Tonar
So big deal, we don't fly full real, so big deal we are not the best pilots in the sim world.
Deacon352nd
Gents, The settings we use allow for colored icons names and planes with the dots showing up at 10 - 14 km and the labels for names and planes showing up in color at 3.5km for friendly and 1.5km for enemy. It seems to allow you to see the dot at distance and "realistically" not know if it is friend or foe till you get closer.
Blairgowrie
And if you don't like them I will say that I never agreed to such a thing. But seriously, if anyone has a problem with the proposed settings please speak now.

delta7
I am not the expert on nvidea so wait until someone confirms the best drivers but here are the steps Id do first make sure you hav ethe best drivers - see here http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp or some like these http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1556 but these are more for folk who like tinkering and use a different panel then read this on how to set up your card http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_1.html then look at this for in game settings http://mission4today.com/index.php?name ... ow&kid=304 should help mate note that if you run il2setup youll have to edit the config file after to get your wide screen settings you want

delta7
Pooka - the only drivers I update regularly are my video drivers- and even then I have been known to roll back to older ones . If you have an older video card then the driver updates might not be any good for you as they are optimised for newer models. If you are not having any problems then I would not touch my sound card drivers, mobo drivers etc, however if you are having crashes to desktop then this is a possible cause of conflict If it is programs then again if they are working fine Id be tempted to leave well alone , or go to the programs home site and read the info on the update prior to installing- most reputable programs will detect an older version and give uninstall instructions or install over the top by themselves just my thoughts mate S
BBloke
Well.. I was running 1280 x 1024 and I dropped to 1152 resolution and dots are easier to see.
